Senior DevOps Engineer - Career | CloudFerro

In short

Senior DevOps Engineer role at CloudFerro, building a European sovereign PaaS cloud platform based on Kubernetes and open source, for a Warsaw-based team working hybrid. The role covers Kubernetes cluster lifecycle, GitOps/CI-CD pipelines, deployment standards, and on-call rotation for critical incidents. Requires production-scale Kubernetes operations experience, GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux), Go or Python, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Ansible.

About the role
Warsaw, hybrid work.
Looking for a place where your work truly matters? At CloudFerro we build technologies used daily by European leaders in science and the space sector - including ESA, EUMETSAT, ECMWF, Mercator Ocean International, DLR and EGI. Working close to the Earth Observation sector, you can genuinely support analyses and better understanding of our planet. If you're interested in modern technologies, large datasets, and an environment where you can develop your skills and have impact - this is the place for you.
We are constantly growing, and we are currently looking for a person for the position of: Senior DevOps Engineer.
We are currently looking for people who want to co-create, from the ground up, a sovereign European cloud platform, creating a real alternative to global hyperscalers. We are building a complete PaaS stack based on Kubernetes and open source - from serverless and managed databases to MLOps, monitoring and observability. By joining us, you become part of a team that designs the foundations of the platform, rather than developing a finished product. We work in a full-ownership model, where every architectural decision stays with the product for years. This is a place for people who want to genuinely influence the shape of the European cloud.
Role
A key DevOps engineer in the PaaS Platform team, responsible for the operational maintenance and development of the platform. Works on K8S cluster lifecycle, GitOps pipeline, CI/CD, and operational stability of the platform. Bridges the dev and ops worlds — ensures that what the team builds is deployment-ready, observable, and easy to maintain. Your daily work has a direct impact on how fast you ship and how stable the platform is.
Your responsibilities
•K8S cluster lifecycle: provisioning, upgrading, scaling, decommissioning.
•Implementing and maintaining tools and solutions supporting the operation of the platform.
•Maintaining and developing the platform's GitOps pipelines. CI/CD: build pipelines, integration testing platform.
•Implementing deployment and rollback standards established for the platform.
•Participating in on-call rotation for critical platform incidents.
Requirements
•DevOps engineer with practical experience operating Kubernetes infrastructure at production scale.
•Experience with GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux) in a production environment - maintaining and developing pipelines.
•Good knowledge of Go or Python.
•Experience with Infrastructure as Code - Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
Nice to have
•Experience with Kubernetes cluster upgrade paths - rolling upgrades, certificate rotation.
•Experience with Harbor, OpenBao, or similar.
•Experience designing GitOps pipelines for multi-tenant platforms.
•Experience building custom Kubernetes operators.
•Experience with full release management - from builds through integration testing to production deployment.
•Proficient use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code) as a natural part of daily engineering work.
Why it's worth joining us
•Building a cloud platform: you build from scratch a modern ecosystem that supports the European space industry, climate research, and scientific projects of real significance.
•Autonomous team: you join a newly formed group that operates like a startup, but within a stable, large organization with access to resources that small companies don't provide.
•CNCF technologies in production: you work with Kubernetes, KNative, Cilium, ArgoCD, Kubeflow, and other open-source projects, with the opportunity to contribute to them.
•Real impact: you have a voice in architectural and product decisions, and your ideas genuinely shape the direction of the platform's development.
•AI-native workflow: we use tools like Claude Code every day, not as an experiment, but as an integral part of the work.
•Autonomy and stability: we offer a lot of freedom in organizing work, transparent rules of cooperation, and stable forms of employment with attractive compensation.
•You will receive a benefits package – medical care, Multisport, life insurance.
•You will have the opportunity to take part in language classes.
