Join the team building Europe's data cloud
Are you looking for a place where your work really matters? At CloudFerro we build technologies used daily by European leaders in science and the space sector — including ESA, EUMETSAT, ECMWF, Mercator Ocean International, DLR and EGI. Working close to the Earth Observation sector, you can genuinely support analyses and a better understanding of our planet.
CloudFerro is:
•a team of experts who are happy to share knowledge,
•international projects and modern technologies, an atmosphere of collaboration and openness,
•a real impact on the development of Europe's digital infrastructure.
We are constantly growing, and we are currently looking for a person for the position of:
Senior Software Engineer
Role
We are looking for someone who combines very good software engineering skills with architectural thinking and likes to have a real impact on what and how we build. The ideal candidate can design a solution, discuss architectural trade-offs, prepare a proof of concept and independently implement key parts of the system — while still enjoying writing code and staying close to the technology.
You will have a real impact on the architecture and development of services responsible for Identity & Access Management in CloudFerro's cloud environments. Although CloudFerro has 300 employees, our department functions in many ways like a startup within a larger organization — a lot is happening, and requirements don't always arrive in the form of a ready specification. We value independence, initiative and a pragmatic approach: we are looking for someone who can ask the right questions, understand the problem, propose a solution and bring it to production, without unnecessary bureaucracy.
What will your tasks be?
•Designing and developing the architecture of IAM services.
•Developing backend components responsible for authentication, authorization and identity and access management.
•Designing APIs and integrations between IAM services and other elements of the cloud platform.
•Designing solutions for multi-tenant environments and large-scale systems.
•Collaborating with the Product Manager to develop solutions that meet business requirements.
•Creating prototypes and proofs of concept for new solutions.
•Developing existing code and implementing new components.
•Making architectural decisions taking into account security, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
•Ensuring code quality through code review, automated tests, refactoring and good engineering practices.
•Diagnosing complex problems occurring at the intersection of applications, IAM and cloud infrastructure.
•Collaborating with other technical teams.
•Creating and developing documentation and architectural standards.
What do we expect from you?
•Minimum 6 years of experience in software development, including experience in designing system architecture.
•Very good knowledge of Python and experience in building production backend services.
•Experience in designing distributed and microservice systems.
•Practical knowledge of standards and protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, JWT.
•Experience in designing and integrating REST APIs.
•Good knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes and cloud environments.
•Knowledge of relational databases, in particular PostgreSQL.
•Ability to analyze requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
•Ability to make conscious architectural decisions and argue the trade-offs related to them.
•Independence and responsibility for the solution — from idea and design to a working production system.
•Knowledge of English allowing for comfortable work with technical documentation and collaboration in an international environment.
A big plus will be:
•Knowledge of other languages such as Java or Go.
•Knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP platforms.
•Knowledge of RBAC, ABAC, policy engines and fine-grained authorization models.
•Knowledge of MFA, SSO, service accounts, token management and secrets management.
•Knowledge of RabbitMQ, Redis, Prometheus/Grafana.
•Experience designing IAM solutions for multi-cloud environments or large SaaS/PaaS/IaaS platforms.
•Practical knowledge of application security and cloud security.
•Knowledge of OpenStack, including Keystone.
In return we offer you:
•A real impact on the company's technology architecture at a company-wide scale.
•Engineering challenges related to the European space sector.
•A high degree of autonomy and work among experts.
•An informal and friendly working atmosphere in the office by the Vistula river.
•Attractive remuneration, stable employment and a benefits package (medical care, Multisport, insurance, language lessons).
