Responsibilities
•Design complete social journeys for discovering people, following them, sharing ideas or trades, receiving responses, and returning
•Shape navigation, information hierarchy, copy, defaults, gestures, and feedback, including empty, failed, slow-loading, and changing-user-intent states
•Create interactive prototypes, explore alternatives, test uncertain elements, and provide engineering with clear flows, states, and acceptance criteria
•Translate user motivations into decisions about audience visibility, prompts, reputation, feedback, and contribution effort
•Run usability sessions, observe task completion, combine findings with funnel data, and identify where users misunderstand the product, lose confidence, or abandon actions
•Design for both first-time and repeated use, including users without connections and lightweight sharing during active trading, with clear controls over public content
•Define expected behavior and measurement plans for significant changes; track task completion, abandonment, first follows, first contributions, responses, and retention
•Work with data science to evaluate experiments and their effects on contributors and audiences
•Set an initial scope, resolve trade-offs with engineering, review implementation against the design, and use post-launch evidence to prioritize improvements
Requirements
•Experience designing and shipping consumer social experiences; portfolio demonstrating contributions to feeds, profiles, sharing, messaging, discovery, or communities and how they changed after launch
•Strong interaction design skills and ability to explain flow structure, user priorities, required understanding, and opportunities to remove decisions or steps
•Ability to build realistic, testable interactive prototypes using Figma, code, AI tools, or a combination, including transitions, empty states, and failure states
•Ability to use user research evidence to challenge assumptions and change designs
•Ability to own product outcomes, prioritize problems, define success, interpret funnel and cohort data, and assess experiment results
•Understanding of social finance, including how credibility, incentives, reputation, and visibility of financial activity affect trust and sharing choices
Conditions
•Applicants may redact or remove resume information identifying age, date of birth, or dates of educational attendance or graduation
•Qualified applicants with criminal histories are considered in accordance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance
•Job-related skills or work-style assessments may be part of the hiring process; results are considered alongside experience and interviews and are not the sole basis for employment decisions
•The employer is committed to equal opportunity and does not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on protected characteristics
