Role Profile
We are looking for an experienced DevOps & Application Services Manager to lead a St. Louis-based team supporting highly available, low-latency trading and market infrastructure services. You will combine people leadership, production ownership and engineering discipline to improve service resilience, deployment safety, observability and operational efficiency across on-premises and cloud environments. Working with global engineering, product, infrastructure, cyber, risk and business teams, you will ensure critical services are secure, reliable and ready to scale.
What You will be Doing
•Manage, coach and grow DevOps and application support engineers; set clear objectives, build capability, support succession planning and create an inclusive, accountable culture.
•Be accountable for availability, performance, capacity and recoverability of assigned trading and application services, using service-level objectives and operational metrics to drive outcomes.
•Lead incident, problem, change, release and event-management practices; coordinate major-incident response, stakeholder communications, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
•Advance CI/CD, infrastructure as code, configuration management, automated testing, deployment controls and repeatable environment provisioning.
•Improve monitoring, alerting, logging, tracing, dashboards and automated remediation; reduce operational toil and recurring failure demand.
•Maintain disaster-recovery readiness, business-continuity controls, security compliance, vulnerability remediation, audit evidence and operational risk actions.
•Work with global product and engineering teams to ensure new services are supportable, production-ready and aligned with enterprise architecture and technology standards.
•Manage priorities, resources, technical debt, service improvements and dependencies; provide clear reporting on performance, risks, incidents and delivery commitments.
•Use data, retrospectives and industry practices to improve customer outcomes, platform resilience, team effectiveness and cost efficiency.
What You will Deliver
•Stable, secure and resilient production services supporting time-sensitive financial markets.
•Measurable reductions in incidents, recovery time, manual effort and deployment risk.
•Consistent production-readiness, service-acceptance and operational-governance standards.
•Modern, reusable delivery patterns for applications and infrastructure across hybrid environments.
•Clear service ownership, actionable operational metrics and transparent risk reporting.
•A high-performing team with strong technical depth, customer focus and effective cross-regional collaboration.
What You will Bring
•Proven experience leading DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, production engineering or application support teams in a complex, regulated or high-availability environment.
•Strong operational leadership across incident, problem, change, release, capacity, availability and continuity management.
•Hands-on understanding of Linux/Unix platforms, networking, databases, middleware, cloud services and distributed application architectures.
•Demonstrated delivery of CI/CD, infrastructure as code, configuration management, automated testing and secure software-delivery practices.
•Experience using observability and operational tooling to improve service health and reduce mean time to detect and recover.
•Ability to assess technical and operational risk, prioritise remediation and communicate clearly with senior technical and business stakeholders.
•Strong people-management skills, including hiring, coaching, performance management, workforce planning and development of diverse teams.
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
•Financial markets, trading-platform or market-infrastructure experience is preferred; strong candidates from other high-availability technology environments are also encouraged to apply.
•Relevant experience may include AWS, Linux/Unix, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, Git-based source control, Jenkins or comparable CI/CD platforms, Python, Bash, PowerShell, Kafka, SQL/Oracle, Control-M, Datadog or similar observability platforms, Jira and Confluence. Depth in every listed technology is not required; we value sound engineering judgement, learning agility and the ability to lead specialists effectively.
•Acts with integrity, earns trust and follows through on commitments.
•Builds partnerships across teams, locations and disciplines.
•Sets a high bar for engineering and operational excellence.
•Embraces change, challenges constructively and turns ideas into measurable outcomes.
•Communicates calmly and decisively during high-pressure events.
•Creates clarity, enables ownership and develops others.
What You should Know about this Role
•This role is based in St. Louis and follows LSEG's hybrid-working approach, with the team's pattern agreed according to business and operational needs.
•Participation in an out-of-hours management escalation rota is expected.
