About the role
Langfuse ingests AI tracing data and provides open-source infrastructure for observability, data processing, and evaluation. It operates Langfuse Cloud and supports self-hosting across deployment environments.
Responsibilities
•Own and optimize the data ingestion pipeline for throughput, latency, reliability, and cost efficiency
•Design ClickHouse schemas, optimize merge strategies, tune batch inserts, and write and review analytical queries for dashboards and the UI
•Build infrastructure-heavy features, including asynchronous LLM-as-a-Judge processing, large-scale alerting, client-code execution, and batch dataset operations
•Run load tests against production data to evaluate schemas, migrations, and query optimizations
•Prototype table designs, run them in parallel on real traffic, and compare results before committing changes
•Plan for infrastructure scaling as product directions expand, including long-running agent observability and real-time evaluation
•Operate Langfuse Cloud across production environments and support self-hosting from Docker Compose to enterprise-grade Helm chart deployments
Requirements
•Strong backend engineering skills and interest in database internals, query optimization, and distributed systems
•Enjoy working with large volumes of data
•Experience with analytical databases, data pipelines, or high-throughput event processing
•Ability to organize work independently and form strong opinions about what to build and how to ship it
•Comfortable reading and writing TypeScript and SQL
•Interest in open-source software and enjoyment of discussing users' scaling challenges
•Ability to thrive in a small, accountable team
