Octopus Money

Account executive for workplace financial wellbeing

In short

Account Executive role at Octopus Money, a London-based company providing financial wellbeing coaching to employees through HR and People teams. The role owns the full sales cycle from outreach to close, targeting financial services, professional services, legal, recruitment, media and tech accounts, and requires a proven track record in closing sales roles, comfort with ambiguity and consultative, no-script selling. Hybrid work with 3 days per week in the London office is required, and experience selling to HR buyers or category-creating products is a plus.

About the Role
Money worries don't stay at home. They follow people into work, affecting their focus, their mental health and their happiness. At Octopus Money, we're changing that by giving employees access to their own money coach: a real person who helps them take control of their finances. We're looking for an Account Executive to bring that to more workplaces. You'll build relationships with HR and People leaders, work out what matters most to each organisation, and own your deals from first conversation to signature.
Responsibilities
•Own the full sales cycle from initial outreach to close
•Research, plan, and collaborate with the SDR and marketing team to create outreach campaigns for target accounts across financial services, professional services, legal, recruitment, media, and tech
•Lead discovery conversations that challenge and educate HR and Reward teams
•Tailor our value proposition to specific client needs and sectors
•Build a tailored business case connecting our solution to the business objectives
•Build and nurture a high-quality pipeline of opportunities
•Consistently hit and exceed revenue targets
•Lead and coordinate internal resources, including SDR, operations, and launch/success teams, to ensure seamless deal delivery
•Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to identify new business opportunities
•Participate in client-facing activities such as dinners, breakfasts, and industry events to strengthen relationships and drive engagement
•Feed insights back to the product team based on client needs and market demand
Requirements
•A genuine desire to help people
•You're driven by your targets and the company's OKRs, but you care just as much about doing right by the customer
•You read a room fast, trust your gut, and find creative ways to stand out and figure things out without a script
•You know when to challenge your prospect's thinking and push back when it matters
•You know when a "no" from you builds more trust than a "yes"
•You take full responsibility for your number, and you'll roll up your sleeves to hit it
•You take initiative, prioritise ruthlessly, and pivot fast when the plan changes
•You earn trust with senior stakeholders through credibility, insight, and always having their best interest at heart
•You bring a proposition to life and hold the attention of busy decision-makers
•Proven track record in a closing sales role, ideally in a startup or scrappy, fast-moving environment
•Comfortable diagnosing a problem before pitching a solution, rather than running a fixed script
•Comfortable working in ambiguity, building process as you go rather than following an established playbook
•Confident thinking on your feet and adapting your approach mid-conversation or mid-deal
•A relentless, high-urgency approach to your work, with the judgement to know what matters most
•Sharp instincts with people, you read situations quickly and adjust your approach accordingly
Nice to Have
•Experience selling into multi-stakeholder sales cycles
•Experience selling to HR buyers in the workplace
•A track record of being a top performer (president's club, #1 rep, similar) rather than just tenure in a role
•Experience selling a category-creating or newer product, where you're educating the market rather than responding to existing demand
What We Offer
•Base salary of £45,000-£55,000 DOE + OTE
•Hybrid working with 3 days in the office each week (Tuesday - Thursday)
•18 days a year working from anywhere
•Performance-based bonus
•The opportunity to participate in our Share Incentive Plan (HMRC approved scheme enabling employees to invest tax efficiently)
•Company pension
•Private medical insurance
•Enhanced parental leave and Return to Work coaching
•Birthday day off
•A mission driven focus - the chance to help people improve their lives through financial wellbeing, and a supportive team who care about what they do
