About the Role
The Senior Specialist, Learning & Development, Canada is a dynamic, agile, and collaborative learning professional who supports the Canadian L&D Lead in executing the learning strategy. This hands-on role co-designs, develops, and delivers impactful learning experiences that strengthen commercial capabilities, product and disease-state knowledge, and readiness across sales and marketing teams.
Working across brands, functions, and learning priorities, the role translates agreed business needs into practical, engaging learning solutions. Assignments evolve with Canadian subsidiary priorities rather than a fixed topic or functional portfolio. The role independently manages assigned programs within the direction established by the L&D Lead, who retains ownership of the overall Canadian learning strategy, curriculum priorities, senior stakeholder partnerships, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
•Convert defined learning strategies and agreed capability needs into creative, high-impact instructional designs, learning objectives, and practical programs that support business outcomes.
•Partner with Marketing, Sales, Medical, Launch teams, and subject matter experts to develop, refresh, and deliver learning that accelerates field force readiness, product launch excellence, and commercial capability building.
•Apply adult learning principles to create engaging blended experiences, including workshops, virtual sessions, self-directed resources, practice activities, and reinforcement tools that support on-the-job application.
•Leverage modern learning technologies, digital platforms, and omnichannel methodologies to improve learner engagement, accessibility, and continuity across learning touchpoints.
•Coordinate assigned programs from planning and development through delivery, reinforcement, and evaluation, managing timelines, learner communications, logistics, materials, and vendor partnerships within agreed scope and budget.
•Deliver virtual and in-person learning sessions, adapt facilitation to audience needs, and create opportunities for discussion, practice, feedback, and knowledge application.
•Support agreement on program KPIs; track participation, completion, knowledge acquisition, and application where appropriate; analyze learner feedback and available performance indicators; and recommend continuous improvements.
•Shift flexibly between product launches, scientific and disease-state education, and commercial skill-building, aligning workload and trade-offs with the L&D Lead as subsidiary needs evolve.
•Work with relevant subject matter experts and review partners to support scientific accuracy, appropriate use of approved content, and adherence to applicable company review processes and compliance requirements.
•Collaborate with local, regional and global learning partners to adapt and reuse relevant content for the Canadian market, coordinating English and French learning materials as needed.
Key Competencies
•Takes on new opportunities and tough challenges with urgency, energy, and enthusiasm; follows through on commitments and delivers high-quality learning outcomes.
•Builds partnerships and works collaboratively across functions to meet shared objectives, incorporating diverse expertise into practical learning solutions.
•Gains the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity; communicates transparently and demonstrates sound judgment.
•Actively learns through experimentation when tackling new problems, using lessons from both successes and setbacks to improve approaches and adapt quickly.
