Responsibilities
As a Software Operations Engineer, you are primarily responsible for our application ecosystem's stability, integrity, and day-to-day operations. You'll work closely with the software engineers and site reliability engineers to ensure existing systems function as intended, identify potential operational challenges, and make necessary code adjustments for optimization and efficiency. Occupying this role means being at the heart of our operations, ensuring that business applications remain functional, efficient, and user-centric. While the focus isn't on new feature development, the operational integrity of the application is paramount, requiring a dedicated and skilled individual to oversee this aspect.
•Application Maintenance: Oversee the daily operations of digital products and applications, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted service for users
•Bug Identification & Resolution: Promptly address operational issues, diagnosing and resolving bugs to maintain system integrity.
•Code Adjustments: Implement minor code changes to optimize product performance while liaising with the development team for more complex adjustments.
•Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor digital product performance, ensuring that systems meet established benchmarks and performance criteria.
•Collaboration: Work in conjunction with Software Engineers, Platform Development, and Site Reliability teams, ensuring that operational standards are met and optimized.
•Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of operational activities, challenges, and resolutions.
Technical Skills we need from you
Education and Professional Experience
•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent work experience
•At least two years of professional experience in an application operations engineering role
•Skilled in at least one programming language (C#, Java, Python, or TypeScript). This role requires minor code adjustments, so deep algorithmic knowledge is not essential.
•Experience working with cloud platforms, especially Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure. Understanding AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure services is essential.
•Familiarity with Relational and NoSQL database systems, understanding how to query, adjust, and optimize for operational requirements.
•Ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and processes.
Soft Skills
•Ability to quickly adapt to new operational challenges, leveraging problem-solving skills to ensure the application remains operational.
•Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
•Ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams, especially with software engineers, platform engineers, and site reliability engineers.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to articulate challenges and resolutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
