Packmatic

Product designer in B2B SaaS

In short

Senior Product Designer role at Packmatic, a B2B SaaS platform for packaging specification and management, working hybrid in Berlin. The role involves end-to-end product design for complex, data-heavy workflows, defining scalable UX patterns, and close collaboration with Product and Engineering teams. It requires at least 5 years of SaaS B2B product design experience, strong Figma and systems-thinking skills, familiarity with modern frontend concepts, and native-level German plus fluent English.

About the Company
Packa is the leading platform for managing packaging specifications—we help companies reduce packaging costs and efficiently implement sustainability requirements such as PPWR or EPR. Packmatic is the digital platform for packaging management. We connect companies with a Europe-wide network of packaging suppliers—quickly, transparently, and based on data. Together, we are changing how packaging is developed, procured, and managed - for greater efficiency, sustainability, and impact. Supported by strong investors and an ambitious team, we are growing rapidly.
Responsibilities
•Keep a user-first perspective in every decision and make complex packaging and compliance workflows intuitive, clear, and measurable
•Lead interviews, usability tests, and workshops to understand customer workflows, pain points, and recurring UX friction
•Partner with Product and Engineering from early problem framing through solution design, turning complex requirements into coherent end-to-end experiences
•Identify common interaction needs across modules and define scalable UX patterns for areas such as tables, filters, bulk actions, status, review flows, data completeness, and system states
•Maintain and improve interaction principles, components, states, and usage guidance so teams can build consistent experiences without redesigning common problems from scratch
•Use Figma, AI coding tools, and lightweight coded prototypes to test ideas quickly. You can navigate frontend code and make smaller UI changes, but you are not expected to work as a Frontend Engineer
•Work closely with Engineers to understand technical constraints, review implementation in the live product, and adapt solutions without losing user intent
•Use product data, customer feedback, and recurring support signals to improve both individual workflows and the underlying UX system
Requirements
•At least 5 years of professional experience in Product Design, ideally in SaaS B2B environments and preferably with complex or data-heavy workflows
•Proven experience designing and shipping digital products end-to-end - from discovery and prototyping to live product - supported by strong examples of shipped work
•Deep understanding of interaction design, information architecture, systems thinking, and user experience principles, with the ability to bring clarity to complex or ambiguous problems
•You naturally look for reusable patterns and principles instead of solving every feature as a one-off design problem
•You understand how modern component-based frontend applications are built, can work comfortably with Engineers, and can navigate HTML/CSS and React/TypeScript concepts. Production frontend engineering is not a core requirement
•You actively use AI tools for research synthesis, exploration, prototyping, and lightweight coding, and you are interested in changing the product process rather than only making existing design tasks faster
•Ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and domain experts, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical realities
•Strong command of Figma and familiarity with modern collaboration, research, analytics, and AI prototyping tools
•Native-level German and fluent English skills for effective collaboration across teams
•Degree, vocational training, or bootcamp in a relevant field - your practical experience matters most
Benefits
•You will work directly with the Packa Leadership - early stage - founding team, giving you creative freedom from day one
•You will be part of a highly motivated, diverse, and successful team and will have a high degree of freedom and responsibility from the outset
•You will work in a great office in Berlin - Prenzlauer Berg
•You will work in a company with an inspiring vision, led by an experienced founding team and supported by leading investors!
•We believe in fair compensation and you will benefit from a clear path for growth and development
•You will shape the processes that companies use to make packaging more sustainable and reduce their carbon footprint
