About the role
Altegio is a platform that helps service businesses manage their schedules, clients, staff, payments, and online bookings. The product has been around for about 15 years, processing thousands of bookings every minute. Our main markets are Brazil and Europe. We're looking for a senior engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, influences product decisions, and knows how to accelerate development with AI without compromising quality.
Responsibilities
•Clarify requirements with the CTO and product team, explore code and data, and choose solutions even when there's no detailed specification.
•Analyze user journeys and feedback, proposing solutions that account for UX, product consistency, and implementation costs.
•Define acceptance criteria, plan testing and rollbacks, and cover key and edge cases with automated tests.
•Work across the stack, from UI to database, safely modify existing code, and ship small MRs behind feature flags.
•Delegate tasks to coding agents, provide the necessary context, and verify their code, tests, and results.
•Review colleagues' changes and turn successful approaches into shared skills, agent workflows, and automated checks.
Requirements
•Commercial development experience with PHP and Vue, React, or a similar frontend framework.
•Hands-on experience using coding agents in real-world projects.
•Strong engineering fundamentals, including transactions and concurrency, idempotency, time zones, access control and data ownership, N+1 queries, and working with tables containing millions of rows.
•The ability to identify risks, flag blockers, and propose solutions.
•English proficiency at B1 level or above.
Nice to have
•Experience with payments, webhooks, OAuth, and public APIs.
•Experience with high-load systems and technologies such as MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, and ClickHouse.
•Hands-on experience with Sentry, Grafana, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and gradual rollouts.
•Experience building custom skills, coding agents, or MCP servers used by a team.
Conditions
•Competitive, market-aligned compensation.
•A product at scale: high traffic, a large customer base, and complex business logic. Your decisions will impact businesses and their customers across multiple countries.
•Real ownership and influence: minimal bureaucracy, direct interaction with C-level leadership, and involvement in product decisions.
•A strong engineering culture: code reviews, knowledge sharing, and open discussions about technical decisions.
•Fully remote work.
•Employment in Armenia or Kazakhstan, or a contractor arrangement through an individual entrepreneur (IE).
•Your choice of equipment: MacBook, Mac mini, Lenovo, or Dell.
