OLX

design system designer

In short

This senior, fully remote role at OLX involves designing and evolving a design system at scale across multiple product tribes, not just documenting one. It requires close collaboration with engineers on tokens, component behavior, and Figma-to-code workflows, plus running a contribution model for designers outside the core team. Strong technical fluency, communication skills, and experience or interest in AI-assisted design workflows are required.

Responsibilities
•Design and evolve reusable components, patterns, and foundations for the design system to reduce duplication and improve consistency across tribes
•Define component behavior, states, and variants with engineers and support their delivery
•Run and improve the contribution model so designers outside the core pod can propose and ship components without fragmenting the system
•Support design work from problem framing through documentation and handover, using research and team feedback to inform decisions
•Create documentation and specifications covering variants, edge cases, and usage guidance
•Collaborate with engineers on token strategy and the connection between Figma and production code
•Resolve conflicts between local team needs and the system's long-term coherence
•Work with product design teams to identify gaps and embed stronger systems thinking across products
•Use AI-assisted tools in daily workflows, from research through prototyping and component definition
•Help structure the system for AI-assisted workflows, including tokens, documentation, and reusable patterns
•Apply design judgment when overriding AI output and explain the reasoning
Requirements
•Proven experience designing and maintaining a design system at scale, not just documenting one
•Experience running or contributing to a contribution model, or a clear point of view on how to build one
•Strong technical fluency and understanding of how design decisions translate into code; able to work with engineers as peers
•Strong judgment on when to enforce consistency and when to allow exceptions
•Strong communication skills, including justifying design system decisions to stakeholders and bringing other designers along
•Comfortable using AI-assisted tools and interested in applying them to improve speed, quality, and consistency
•A portfolio demonstrating strong product and systems thinking, with evidence of shipped impact rather than only documented patterns
•Experience with Figma, including component libraries, variables, and tokens, and with built or coded prototypes
•Experience working closely with engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable outcomes
•Experience or strong interest in AI-assisted design or development workflows
