About the Role
As Assistant Tax Manager, you'll join Darktrace's in-house Group Tax team and report to the Group Senior Tax Manager. You'll cover group tax reporting and UK corporation tax compliance. You'll also manage the outsourced providers who handle tax compliance across a large international footprint, and oversee the UK R&D expenditure credit (RDEC) process. You'll own your work from start to finish, working closely with Finance and external advisers.
This is a hybrid role with the expectation of attending the London office a minimum of 2 days a week.
Day to Day Responsibilities
•Preparing quarterly and year-end group tax reporting under IFRS and US GAAP. This includes current and deferred tax, effective tax rate analysis and disclosures, plus the tax notes in the statutory accounts
•Preparing UK corporation tax computations, returns and provisions, including the impact of RDEC
•Overseeing the outsourced RDEC provider, including reviewing claims and supporting data
•Supporting Patent Box claims, Corporate Interest Restriction (CIR) calculations and returns, and HMRC enquiries and correspondence
•Supporting tax risk management and governance, including Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) compliance and the tax risk register
•Managing outsourced providers who prepare tax returns in 25+ countries, including scoping the work, tracking deadlines, reviewing quality and monitoring fees
•Managing data requests to Finance teams and local entities, and using Excel to collect, reconcile and check the data
•Managing tax payments, including instalments and the cash tax calendar
•Preparing cash tax and effective tax rate forecasts, and providing tax inputs for budget and forecast cycles
You'll keep up to date with UK and international tax law changes and assess how they affect the group. You'll also support projects and one-off queries in areas such as transfer pricing and Pillar Two.
Candidate Requirements
Darktrace welcomes applications from ACCA or CTA qualified tax professionals with experience of group tax reporting under IFRS or US GAAP, and of UK corporation tax compliance. You'll have managed outsourced tax compliance providers across several countries, and you'll have strong Excel skills, including managing and analysing large data sets. You'll take ownership of the compliance process and meet deadlines. You'll also work well with colleagues outside tax, including Finance, Legal, R&D and HR, and you'll have strong written and verbal communication skills, including explaining tax positions clearly to non-tax colleagues.
It would be great if you also have:
•In-house experience in a multinational group
•Experience with tax provision or compliance software such as OneSource
•Exposure to RDEC, Patent Box and CIR
•Exposure to transfer pricing or Pillar Two
As a growing business strengthening its governance and controls, this role plays a part in supporting high standards of integrity and accountability.
