Security clearance approval is required, and prior defense-industry experience is not mandatory if coming from another safety-critical or regulated field.

About the role
Would you like to be part of creating technology that makes a real difference?
At Saab, we work with advanced systems that contribute to safety and security for people and societies. We are now looking for an experienced System Safety Engineer who wants to play a central role in the development of our most complex products and systems.
Your role
As an experienced System Safety Engineer, you work with identifying, analyzing and managing safety risks throughout the entire system lifecycle – from early requirements and concept development to verification and operation.
You become an important part of product development and work closely with systems engineers, development teams and other specialists. You become part of a team of 15 colleagues in Järfälla. Together we work to ensure that system safety is integrated early in the development work and permeates the entire product lifecycle.
In this role, you work in a structured manner according to established methods, processes and standards. You also contribute to developing and improving our ways of working within system safety.
Main responsibilities
•Conduct risk analyses and safety assessments of complex technical systems.
•Develop, formulate and follow up requirements within system safety throughout the entire system lifecycle.
•Develop and drive safety plans and safety processes that meet internal and external requirements.
•Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, for example MIL-STD-882E.
•Document and communicate results, analyses and safety evidence.
•Drive improvement work and contribute to developing ways of working and processes within system safety.
•Collaborate with system and development teams to ensure safety aspects are handled early and systematically in the development work.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with solid experience of system safety who thrives working in complex, technology-intensive environments. You have a structured and analytical way of working, while also being able to see the big picture and understand the interplay between technology, people and processes.
You are confident in your competence and have the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and pedagogically. You can drive your work independently, but also enjoy collaborating with different competencies and functions.
You do not need to have worked in the defense industry before. Relevant experience from other safety-critical or regulated operations is also highly valuable.
We would like you to have:
•Engineering degree in, for example, engineering physics, electrical engineering, systems engineering or other relevant technical education.
•Solid and relevant experience of system safety work in complex, technical environments.
•Experience conducting risk analyses and safety assessments for complex systems.
•Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, for example MIL-STD-882, H SysSäk and H ProgSäk.
•Experience of systematic and preferably strategic safety work.
•Experience from defense, aviation or other safety-critical or regulated industry is advantageous.
•Good ability to communicate in both Swedish and English.
The position requires approval according to applicable security clearance regulations. For certain security-classified roles, citizenship requirements may apply.
