Software Engineer – Full-Stack (React, TypeScript, Java)

In short

Full-stack Software Engineer role on S&P Global Market Intelligence's Financial Risk Analytics team, building React/TypeScript UIs and Node.js/Java backend services with REST APIs and PostgreSQL that power financial risk decision platforms for capital markets institutions. Hybrid role based in Toronto (2 days/week in office), requiring 7+ years of professional software engineering experience across full-stack technologies, SQL, automated testing, and CI/CD. Also involves technical leadership — architecting features end-to-end, leading design reviews, mentoring engineers, and applying AI tooling to improve engineering productivity.

About the Role
The Team
Financial Risk Analytics (FRA), part of S&P Global Market Intelligence, delivers information-centric capital markets and risk solutions for trading desks and their risk management partners — spanning counterparty credit risk, xVA, market risk, and regulatory compliance. Products are trusted by buy-side and sell-side institutions worldwide, with active investment in technology and data platforms to build new revenue-generating solutions powered by open-source, big data, cloud, and emerging AI capabilities. You will join a collaborative, globally distributed engineering team that values technical rigour, pragmatic decision-making, and delivering measurable impact — working a hybrid schedule of 2 days per week from the Toronto office, with flexibility for the remainder of the week.
Responsibilities and Impact
•Architect and own full-stack product features end-to-end — from design and implementation through automated testing and production support — maintaining accountability for quality, security, and performance at every stage.
•Build scalable, performant UIs using React and TypeScript, and deliver backend services and REST APIs in Node.js and Java, contributing to a platform that powers financial risk decisions for institutions worldwide.
•Design, develop, and optimise PostgreSQL schemas and SQL solutions to support complex, data-intensive financial requirements.
•Lead technical design reviews and architectural decisions, translating intricate financial-risk business requirements into well-structured, maintainable engineering plans — collaborating with product managers and risk specialists across functions.
•Drive engineering excellence by establishing and evolving practices in testing, code review, CI/CD, observability, and secure development; mentor engineers and shape platform-wide standards.
•Apply emerging technologies, including agentic AI and AI-enabled tooling, to improve engineering productivity through code generation, automated testing, documentation, and workflow automation.
