What you will do
•Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI.
•Own software components end to end, including requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and improvement.
•Build scalable APIs and distributed services for production workloads.
•Design database schemas, queries, indexes, and data access layers across SQL and NoSQL systems.
•Contribute to architecture decisions involving service boundaries, caching, asynchronous processing, and reliability.
•Review code, provide technical guidance, and improve engineering standards.
Requirements
•5+ years of software engineering experience with strong Python backend development experience.
•Advanced Python knowledge, including asynchronous programming, concurrency, typing, error handling, and ecosystem best practices.
•Practical experience with FastAPI or similar modern Python web frameworks and strong knowledge of REST APIs, HTTP, authentication, authorization, validation, serialization, and versioning.
•Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills, good knowledge of NoSQL databases, and understanding of data structures, algorithms, design principles, and modular architecture.
•Experience writing unit, integration, and API tests; familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Docker, Linux, and cloud environments.
•Upper-Intermediate English or above and willingness to work in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Nice to have
•Experience with distributed systems, microservices, Kubernetes, Helm, Azure, Kafka, Redis, SQLAlchemy, and event-driven architectures.
•Knowledge of observability, monitoring, performance optimization, concurrency, and high-throughput systems.
•Frontend experience with React and TypeScript.
•Experience integrating AI, ML, or LLM-powered applications into production systems.
