Prozessingenieur Objektivmontage (m/w/x)

In short

This process engineer role at a ZEISS optics manufacturing company focuses on ensuring stability, reproducibility and continuous improvement of assembly and alignment processes for microscopy objectives. It requires a degree in engineering or natural sciences, hands-on experience in optical manufacturing, and strong analytical and cross-functional communication skills. The job also involves defining tooling requirements, supporting series ramp-ups, and taking project responsibility for new manufacturing technologies. Fluent German and good English are required.

About
Carl Zeiss CMP GmbH belongs to the global ZEISS manufacturing network and offers services around the development and production of optomechanical and optoelectronic modules and components. Its central core competence lies in the production of highly corrected spherical optical systems, used in particular in high-performance microscopy objectives.
Your Role
•Ensuring stability and reproducibility of relevant assembly and alignment processes in objective manufacturing; systematic root-cause analyses and sustainable countermeasures for deviations.
•Analysis of manufacturing data, test results and quality deviations; derivation of concrete process adjustments, standards and improvement measures.
•Development, evaluation and optimization of assembly/alignment strategies for optical assemblies – focus on accuracy, repeatability, process window, throughput stability and series capability.
•Identification of new or improved assembly/alignment methods; supporting trials/tests and transferring approved solutions into stable series processes.
•Defining technical requirements for fixtures, tools, measuring and testing equipment as well as process sequences; technical preparation of investment needs and support of implementation, acceptance and handover to production.
•Supporting quotation, prototype and series ramp-up processes by evaluating customer requirements, drawings, specifications and manufacturability aspects in the assembly/alignment environment.
•Close collaboration with production, work preparation, development, quality, purchasing, SCM and suppliers; representing the manufacturing perspective in cross-functional projects.
•Documentation of relevant assembly/alignment processes, process parameters, standards and lessons learned; training or technical briefings to qualify users.
•Taking independent responsibility for work packages, partial project responsibility or project leadership when introducing new assembly/alignment technologies, process adaptations or series ramp-ups.
Your Profile
•Completed degree in a natural science or engineering field, e.g. mechanical engineering, production technology, precision engineering, optics/photonics, physics, mechatronics or a comparable qualification.
•Solid practical experience in optical manufacturing, ideally in assembly, alignment, precision assembly, production engineering, process development or series ramp-up.
•Good understanding of assembly and alignment processes, process windows, tolerance chains, process capability, quality characteristics and statistical evaluation of process and test data.
•Knowledge of fixture, tool and process concepts as well as in the qualification and series transfer of new manufacturing processes, aids and test/measuring methods.
•Confident application of structured problem-solving methods, e.g. root-cause analysis, design of experiments, risk assessment and sustainable process stabilization.
•Strong interface competence, clear technical communication and the ability to present complex manufacturing topics in a way appropriate to production, engineering, development, quality and management.
•Proactive cultivation of a constructive feedback culture: regular giving and receiving of constructive feedback, open communication about error causes, and jointly deriving improvement measures to increase quality, efficiency and learning progress.
•Independent, analytical and solution-oriented way of working with high quality standards, implementation strength and enjoyment of transferring technological developments into viable series processes.
•Fluent German, good English in speech and writing.
