CloudLinux

product owner for email security

In short

A remote lead role at CloudLinux owning the email security product line within Imunify360, combining hands-on engineering leadership with product/engineering management: planning releases, reviewing critical-path code, owning production incidents and SLOs, and leading and growing a distributed engineering team. Demands 5+ years as a software engineer with 2+ years leading engineers, strong Linux and code-review ability, production on-call experience, and familiarity with ML-driven systems and agentic AI-assisted development workflows. Requires professional English and availability during EU hours.

About
CloudLinux makes Imunify360, a suite of security products that protects millions of websites across the web hosting industry. Its email security line provides inbound anti-spam filtering integrated with hosting control panels and an outbound SMTP gateway that protects sender reputation and keeps legitimate mail out of spam folders.
Responsibilities
•Turn the product backlog into a sequenced engineering plan with estimates, dependencies, and a release train
•Run weekly planning, release readiness, and status reporting using measurable data
•Own model-release quality gates, including measured spam catch rates, false-positive deltas, and rollback paths
•Keep technical debt visible and funded by incorporating it into the roadmap
•Report delivery status and risks to engineering leadership weekly, with an owner and due date for every item
•Own the email stack architecture with the architecture group; review designs, write and approve ADRs, and make build-versus-buy decisions with explicit trade-offs
•Review critical-path code and designs for mail flow, rate limiting, quarantine, and authentication; set standards for tests, observability, and safe rollouts
•Own production health, including SLOs, alerting, capacity, and sending-infrastructure deliverability
•Command product-impacting incidents, coordinate remediation across teams, inform partners, and author post-mortems within 24 hours with named owners and dates
•Lead a distributed team through 1:1s, goal setting, performance reviews, and career development
•Hire, define candidate profiles, conduct technical interviews, onboard, and mentor engineers
•Establish working agreements for asynchronous work, including written decisions, public-by-default communication, and durable artifacts
•Model and coach effective use of coding agents, including prompting, code review, tool-boundary awareness, context provision, iteration, error recovery, and end-to-end task completion
•Extend agent-assisted development to model and rule pipelines
•Take ownership of the release train and weekly status within the first 30 days; trace inbound and outbound messages through the stack; complete 1:1s with every team member and document team strengths and gaps
•Take ownership of on-call and incident command within the first 60 days; publish current SLOs and the top three reliability risks with mitigations; deliver at least one non-trivial change
•Present an agreed technical roadmap for the email stack within the first 90 days, including a debt-paydown item and staffing recommendation
Requirements
•5+ years as a software engineer and 2+ years leading a team of engineers in a product company
•Strong Linux proficiency at software-engineer user level
•Ability to read and review production code in a modern high-level language such as Python or Go, and debug live systems
•Track record of shipping and operating a distributed backend service under real production load, carrying a pager, and running incidents
•Experience quickly mastering complex technical domains and making credible architectural decisions
•Practical fluency with observability and data tools, such as Grafana, Kibana/Elasticsearch, or Redash, to assess quality directly
•Demonstrated people leadership, including 1:1s, performance conversations, hiring, and growing engineers
•Experience with agentic or AI-assisted development workflows
•Understanding of ML-driven systems, including model-quality evaluation, training, and production operations
•Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
•Availability to work EU hours
Nice to have

•Experience with open-source mail stacks such as Rspamd, SpamAssassin, Postfix, Exim, or Halon, or the web hosting ecosystem and control panels
•Exposure to ML model lifecycle, training-data quality, evaluation metrics, and detection-system tuning trade-offs
•Experience running incident and escalation management with external partners
Conditions
•Flexible working hours
•24 paid vacation days per year, 10 days of national holidays, and unlimited sick leave
•Compensation for private medical insurance
•Co-working and gym/sports reimbursement
