Monzo

product manager for internal risk products

In short

Senior Product Manager role at Monzo, a UK fintech, leading internal risk products — owning roadmap, building automated workflows and MVPs, and driving AI/LLM adoption for risk monitoring. The role requires hands-on prototyping skills (SQL, Python, APIs, low-code tools), understanding of risk/controls concepts, and experience leading teams through change. Work can be based in London or remote within the UK, with occasional office visits.

About Monzo

Responsibilities
•Own the roadmap, vision, strategy, and backlog for internal risk products
•Design, prototype, and build automated workflows, API integrations, and low-code/no-code solutions; develop MVPs and partner with Engineering to scale them when needed
•Champion AI adoption across the discipline by experimenting with LLM prompting, custom agents, and automated evidence-gathering tools
•Drive the transition from annual assessments to continuous automated monitoring and design real-time risk alerts
•Work with first-line risk owners and Risk Partners to deliver guidance, intuitive UI/UX workflows, and self-service enablement
•Maintain the team's delivery plan, guide two data and automation direct reports, engage senior stakeholders, and remove blockers
Requirements
•Think like a Product Manager, focusing on user problems, prioritisation, user experience, and shipping MVPs quickly
•Build prototypes hands-on using data and automation tools, SQL, Python or similar, APIs, workflow tools, or low-code environments
•Experiment with AI/LLMs to automate manual tasks and improve workflows
•Understand risk concepts, including control design, RCSAs, and issue management
•Work effectively with ambiguity, first-principles problem-solving, and a fast-paced environment
•Have experience leading teams through change programmes; experience in Financial Services Controls functions is preferred
•Support colleagues and stakeholders across projects and tasks of different sizes
•Not a fit for candidates whose technology and data experience is limited to defining requirements for other teams to build, who are uncomfortable with hands-on technical problem-solving or ambiguity, who dislike fast-paced environments or iterative MVP delivery, or whose primarily technical experience does not include sufficient risk and controls understanding
Conditions
•Incentive Awards tied to performance
•Role can be based in the London office or worked remotely within the UK, with occasional meetings in London
•Flexible working hours
•£1,000 Annual learning budget for books, training courses, and conferences
