About the Role
We're looking for a People Operations Lead to join our People function, partnering closely with the CEO to deliver People initiatives. You'll be responsible for both strategic planning and hands-on delivery. This is an end-to-end People role, working alongside our Talent Lead, who looks after recruitment. We're looking for a 'do-er'; someone who is excited by sitting down with leaders across the business, and then getting into the nuts and bolts of putting changes in place.
Responsibilities
People Partnering and Engagement
•Being a trusted advisor to managers and leaders: providing hands-on support and coaching through team challenges, change, and key people decisions
•Developing Manager Training and identifying areas where we can improve the quality of employee engagement
•Supporting with sensitive or complex people issues
•Owning and continuously improving our twice-yearly performance development cycle, ensuring it supports growth, feedback, and clarity
•Championing culture, and identifying how we can strengthen our employee value proposition
People Operations
•Day-to-day delivery of people operations across the People lifecycle, including maximising how we use systems (HiBob and Google tools) to streamline workflows, caring about both efficiency and the employee experience
•Taking the lead on people risk, by helping us to spot issues before they become problems
Ideal candidates will have
•Experience with employee relations, comfortable with UK employment law
•Experience working end-to-end across the People lifecycle, with the ability to move comfortably between high-level strategy (e.g. building roadmaps and presenting your focus areas) and practical delivery
Requirements
•Experience in a scale-up environment, where things move quickly and we try to remove unnecessary administration and barriers to making decisions
•You can handle ambiguity. You're comfortable using judgement to create structure and applying first principle thinking
•You're someone who 'chases the ball', rather than just hoping others pick it up. We look for determination, resilience and a healthy dose of optimism
•You thrive in a fast paced environment. You're open to course correct when needed, and challenge yourself and others
About Octopus Money
We're on a mission to become the most recommended financial services business in the UK. Money shapes every part of life, yet most people never get the support they need: half of Brits reach retirement age without enough to live the life they want, financial stress is a leading cause of poor mental health, and only 8% of people have access to 1-to-1 financial advice.
Octopus Money brings together financial planning, investment expertise and smart technology so people can understand their options and take action with confidence. We help people build a clear plan for their savings, investments and pensions and make investing simple with managed portfolios built by experts. We also support employers who want their teams to feel more secure and in control.
We're part of Octopus Group, a privately-owned business that's spent 25 years doing things differently, building companies such as Octopus Energy, Octopus Legacy, amicable, Aurora, Seccl, Octopus Investments and Octopus Capital.
