About the role
We're looking for an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to join a project in the insurance sector in Lisbon. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role for someone who can combine strong business analysis skills with project management expertise, taking ownership from initial requirements gathering through to final delivery. You'll work closely with business areas, IT teams, and senior stakeholders, challenging assumptions, defining scope, and ensuring projects deliver meaningful results.
Responsibilities
•Own the full project lifecycle, from requirements definition and planning to delivery and closure
•Engage directly with business stakeholders to gather, document, validate, and challenge requirements
•Manage multiple small projects simultaneously or lead a larger initiative, depending on scope and experience
•Define project scope, timelines, milestones, and delivery plans
•Manage stakeholders and change processes across business and IT, including executive-level stakeholders
•Prepare executive presentations, project status reports, and delivery updates
•Monitor risks, issues, dependencies, and change requests, ensuring projects remain on track
•Act as the bridge between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams
•Challenge assumptions, identify gaps, and push back when requirements or expectations fall outside the agreed scope
•Take accountability for both the strategic direction and day-to-day execution of projects
Requirements
•8+ years of professional experience across IT project management and business analysis
•Proven experience managing IT and technology projects in large organizations or multinational environments
•Previous experience in the insurance industry, with the ability to understand business processes, challenge assumptions, and define requirements
•A strong track record of independently managing projects end to end
•Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills
•Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate complex topics clearly
•A highly structured, organized, and proactive approach to project delivery
•Confidence in challenging senior stakeholders and managing scope expectations
•Ability to combine business analysis and project management responsibilities rather than relying on a handover between roles
•Portuguese proficiency is essential, and English at C1 level or above is required
