HAPIC LTD is licensed as an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) by the Central Bank of Cyprus. It creates global digital settlement services and payment products for small and medium-sized enterprises in the European Union.
Responsibilities
•Lead and continuously improve the finance and accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, transparency, and regulatory compliance
•Develop and maintain financial policies, accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial management frameworks in line with EMI requirements
•Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management accounts under IFRS and applicable Cyprus accounting requirements
•Prepare and submit financial and prudential regulatory reports to the Central Bank of Cyprus and other relevant authorities
•Monitor regulatory capital and own funds requirements
•Oversee liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, treasury operations, and allocation of financial resources
•Oversee safeguarding arrangements, including client funds reconciliation and monitoring safeguarding accounts
•Ensure appropriate segregation and accounting treatment of client funds and company funds with Operations and Compliance
•Develop annual budgets, financial forecasts, business plans, and long-term projections
•Monitor financial performance, analyse budget variances, and identify opportunities to improve profitability, cost efficiency, and financial sustainability
•Establish and monitor financial KPIs, including revenue, operating expenses, profitability, liquidity, capital adequacy, and product unit economics
•Oversee reconciliations of bank accounts, payment settlement accounts, general ledger balances, and other financial records
•Manage relationships with banking partners, external auditors, tax advisors, accountants, and other financial service providers
•Coordinate the annual external audit and resolve audit findings
•Oversee corporate tax, VAT, and other applicable Cyprus tax and statutory reporting obligations
•Work with Operations, Compliance, AML, Risk Management, Product, and IT teams on financial controls and regulatory compliance
•Support financial assessment and implementation of payment products, banking integrations, pricing models, and business initiatives
•Analyse product profitability, transaction costs, payment processing fees, partner pricing, and unit economics to support commercial and strategic decisions
•Identify, assess, and mitigate finance-related risks in cooperation with Risk Management
•Develop and maintain financial reporting and management information systems, improving automation, data accuracy, and reporting efficiency
•Provide financial reports, forecasts, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations to executives, founders, and the Board of Directors
•Support regulatory inspections, audits, and preparation of financial information required by the Central Bank of Cyprus
•Own the company's financial management and reporting processes, ensuring readiness for business growth and increasing transaction volumes
•Perform other duties customary and appropriate for the role
Requirements
•5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or financial management, including experience in a managerial role
•Experience managing financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls within a regulated financial institution
•Strong knowledge of IFRS, Cyprus tax requirements, and financial reporting standards
•Practical experience with regulatory reporting, capital adequacy calculations, liquidity management, and financial risk monitoring
•Understanding of payment processing, settlements, bank reconciliations, client funds accounting, and payments industry financial operations
•Experience managing external audits, statutory financial reporting, tax compliance, and external financial advisor relationships
•Ability to develop financial models, budgets, forecasts, and business plans
•Strong analytical and commercial skills, including financial metrics, profitability analysis, and unit economics
•Experience with accounting systems, financial reporting tools, and process automation
•Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
•Strong leadership and people management skills, including the ability to build, motivate, and develop finance teams
•High integrity, attention to detail, accountability, and understanding of financial governance in a regulated environment
•Strong ownership mindset, independence, and effective communication with senior management
•University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
•Excellent written and spoken English
Nice to have
•Understanding of the EU financial-services regulatory environment, EMI regulatory capital requirements, safeguarding obligations, and CBC financial reporting requirements
•A recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent
