The Surveillance business area offers world-leading technology providing situational awareness and decision-making support for defense against various threats. The portfolio includes radar, electronic warfare and command systems, as well as safety and security solutions.
The Vehicle Integration & Services department in Halmstad works mainly with Saab's radar and command systems. We work closely with other Saab sites on various projects to develop new and maintain existing customized systems.
Your Role
As an electrical design engineer with us, you will work on the development and integration of electrical systems in various types of vehicles. You are involved throughout the entire development process – from concept studies and selection of technical solutions to design, verification, and delivery of finished products.
The tasks include, among others:
•Design and dimensioning of power systems, for example AC/DC and DC/DC solutions.
•Cable harness design and planning of cable routing.
•EMC-related issues and system integration.
•Requirements management, technical analyses, and troubleshooting.
•Component selection and collaboration with purchasing, production, and other technical areas.
In Halmstad we are a smaller team with short decision paths and great opportunities to influence both technical solutions and ways of working. You work closely with colleagues in design, production, project management, and purchasing while also having broad collaboration with other Saab units.
Your Profile
We are looking for both those who are at the beginning of their career and want to develop within electrical design, and those who have several years of experience and want to contribute their expertise in the development of advanced electrical systems. Regardless of experience level, you have a technical interest, a good understanding of electrical systems, and a willingness to translate technical requirements into well-functioning solutions.
You work in a structured and careful manner, have a quality-conscious approach, and enjoy varied tasks. You can take responsibility for your work, drive tasks forward, and collaborate with colleagues from different technical areas.
We would like you to have knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
•Electrical circuits, power systems, converters, and filters.
•Circuit diagrams and electrical design.
•Component selection and dimensioning of, for example, fuses, relays, connectors, and cable harnesses.
•Requirements management and production of technical documentation.
•CAD tools for electronics design, preferably Cadence.
Experience with power systems, EMC, system integration, or hardware design is advantageous.
For those who are junior, we value above all relevant technical knowledge, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. For those who are more experienced, we welcome the ability to take on greater technical responsibility and contribute expertise in the development of solutions and ways of working.
The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to the security protection regulations in force at the time. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification placement, this may, where applicable, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
