Tekever

Electronics Engineer

In short

Electronics Engineer role at TEKEVER, a European unmanned technology company working in Defence, Security and Space, based in Bristol with a hybrid working model (minimum 3 days in office). The role covers avionics and payload wiring, power distribution, bench testing, integration support, and schematic/board layout work in Altium, aimed at recent graduates or final-year students in electrical/electronic/mechatronic engineering. Requires eligibility for UK SC level Security Clearance and willingness to travel occasionally to UK, Portugal, US and European sites.

Mission
Electrical and electronic engineering for uncrewed aircraft, covering avionics and payload wiring, power distribution, bench testing and integration support. There is real design content from early on, contributing to subsystems such as power generation and distribution, navigation and sensor interfaces, and the boards behind them. Graduates are given design ownership early, with support from senior engineers, and split their time between design work, the lab and test activity. Work goes from bench to aircraft quickly, so feedback is immediate.
Key Responsibilities
•Contribute to the design and development of avionics subsystems such as power generation and distribution, navigation and sensor interfaces.
•Produce schematics and simple board layouts in Altium under review, and support component selection and obsolescence checks.
•Produce harness drawings, wiring lists and interface documents for avionics and payload installations, reviewed by a senior engineer.
•Support power and load budget work, including measurement of real consumption on the bench and in the aircraft.
•Build and run test setups, support integration, ground test and environmental test, and write up findings clearly enough for others to act on.
•Keep configuration records, part data and test documentation accurate and current.
Qualifications, Experience & Commitments
•Degree at 2:1 or above in electrical, electronic, mechatronic or systems engineering. Final year students are welcome to apply.
•Understanding of analogue and digital fundamentals, power conversion and common serial and network interfaces.
•Some practical laboratory experience with scopes, multimeters, power supplies and soldering.
•Any exposure to sensors, microcontrollers, signal conditioning, or schematic and PCB design in Altium, is welcome but not essential.
•Evidence of hands-on engineering: industrial placement, robotics or aircraft projects, student competition teams, or personal build projects.
•Security Vetting: Due to the nature of our Defence contracts, all applicants must be eligible to hold and willing to undergo the vetting process for UK SC level Security Clearance.
•Travel: Willingness to undertake occasional national and international travel to TEKEVER sites (UK, Portugal, US, Europe) and potentially to deployed operations globally.
Skills & Attributes
•Systematic fault finder who works from evidence rather than assumption.
•Wants to design hardware, not only test it.
•Keen to work somewhere fast paced, where priorities change and graduates are trusted with real hardware.
•Happy to be hands-on, and to travel to other sites in the UK or Portugal.
What We Offer
•Compensation & Financial Security: Highly competitive salary, plus a discretionary annual bonus. Company pension contribution matches up to 10%.
•Wellbeing & Leave: Private Medical Insurance, Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), and 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. Access to an Employee Reward, Recognition, and Benefits platform.
•Culture & Development: Join a talented, high-performing team in a vibrant, fun, and inclusive culture, with regular monthly social events. Clear career development opportunities and support for professional growth.
•Working Model: Flexible Hybrid Working Model (minimum 3 days a week office working expected in core UK sites like Bristol) supporting work-life balance while ensuring mission success.
•Mission-Oriented Impact: Work on mission-critical, cutting-edge technology in the fields of Defence, Security, and Space.
Armed Forces Covenant Commitment: As an Armed Forces friendly company TEKEVER guarantees an interview to all applicants from the Armed Forces community (serving, veterans, and forces family members) as long as the essential criteria of the role are met.
