AI engineer in deal sourcing

In short

This role builds and owns an AI-driven product/tool that powers proprietary dealflow sourcing for an investment team targeting DACH software and tech mid-market companies. The company is an investment firm doing M&A origination, and the work spans screening logic, data enrichment, intent signal detection, and automated outreach. It requires 2-3 years of hands-on experience building production AI tools, strong Python and Docker/Azure deployment skills, practical LLM API experience, and fluent German and English.

About the Role
As an AI Engineer - Dealflow, you will develop and take responsibility for the product or tool used to build the proprietary dealflow for the investment team in the DACH software and tech mid-market. Your goal: identify and reach attractive companies and their shareholders early, ideally before an M&A advisor is appointed or a broad sales process begins.
Responsibilities
•You build and take responsibility for the AI product/tool that continuously fills the origination funnel with software and technology companies in the DACH mid-market.
•You continuously develop and improve it iteratively.
•You develop the screening and prioritization logic for targets and systematically improve its hit rate.
•You expand automated data acquisition and enrichment so that targets are enriched with firmographics and ownership structures.
•You develop logic and workflows to identify intent signals and potential interest in selling.
•You initiate automated multichannel outreach and further develop the underlying processes.
•You build dashboards and reports on the funnel, activities, and conversion as a basis for sourcing and pipeline reviews.
•You evaluate new prospecting and sourcing tools and further develop outreach, sequences, and messaging library.
Requirements
•You have built your own tools and automations that were used in production, not just prototypes and demos.
•You have at least 2–3 years of experience building AI-based products/tools.
•You develop independently in Python and deploy to production with Docker on Azure.
•You have practical experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude) and know where they work reliably and where they do not (yet).
•You already have experience working with CRM data and know what matters for data quality and structure.
•You think commercially: you understand why a target is relevant and measure yourself by results.
•You have successfully completed a degree in business informatics, data science, data analytics, computer science, or a comparable STEM subject.
•You speak German and English fluently at a professional level.
Nice to Have
•Knowledge of Pipedrive, agent systems, and frameworks such as LangGraph is a plus.
Conditions / Benefits
•Room to grow and the opportunity to take on a lot of responsibility, combined with semiannual feedback and an individual professional development budget.
•Personal and professional development opportunities in an inspiring and dynamic environment with flat hierarchies.
•Regular events, a shared summer vacation, and various health benefits such as massages/physiotherapy at the office every two months.
•Modern and ergonomic work equipment, an office in the heart of Berlin right by Park am Gleisdreieck, and a fully equipped kitchen with healthy snacks, soft drinks, and a monthly Friday beer/sparkling wine/wine.
•An attractive salary package including opportunities for gross-to-net optimization.
