As the Technical Product Manager for Compliance, Regulatory, External APIs & Developer Portal, your primary focus is to own the product roadmap and write Business Requirements Documents (BRDs).
Responsibilities
•Own, prioritize, and manage the technical product roadmap for regulatory infrastructure, compliance APIs, risk scoring integrations, and the Developer Portal.
•Align roadmap priorities with business objectives, CISO requirements, Global OKRs, developer adoption metrics, and evolving international regulations (e.g., PSD2/3, DORA, PCI-DSS).
•Author detailed, end-to-end Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), Technical PRDs, and functional user stories for all compliance services and developer platform capabilities.
•Define functional requirements, payload structures, business error codes, rate-limiting policies, and complex regulatory edge cases (e.g., sanction hits, false positives, fallback behaviors, re-KYC loops).
•Establish clear Acceptance Criteria to serve as the baseline for engineering handoffs, QA test cases, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
•Own the product strategy, feature set, and usability of the Developer Portal (developer onboarding, self-service API key management, sandbox environments, and interactive API reference docs).
•Ensure the Developer Portal provides a frictionless developer experience (DX), enabling third-party developers, partners, and clients to easily discover, test, and integrate compliance and BaaS APIs.
•Define, maintain, and govern external-facing API Specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger, REST, Webhooks) published on the Developer Portal.
•Ensure API specifications, code samples, SDK guides, and integration tutorials are comprehensive, accurate, and up to date.
•Define the functional requirements and scope for third-party integrations across Bank providers, Identity Verification (KYC/KYB), Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions/PEP screening, and AML tools.
•Lead functional evaluations with external vendors to establish business SLAs, capabilities, and integration standards required for the platform.
•Ensure every API specification and Developer Portal feature satisfies strict international compliance, data privacy (GDPR), and audit-logging standards.
•Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and functional verification to confirm that delivered features and API behaviors strictly match BRD specifications prior to production release.
Requirements
•4+ years as a Technical Product Manager, Product Manager, or Technical Product Owner in Fintech, Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS), or Developer Platforms.
•Demonstrated track record of writing exhaustive Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), PRDs, and functional specs for complex technical platforms or APIs.
•Proven experience owning or managing a Developer Portal, API documentation platform, or developer-facing product.
•Proven experience defining, publishing, and managing External API Specifications for enterprise partners or third-party developer ecosystems.
•Strong functional understanding of regulatory frameworks including DORA, PSD2/3, PCI-DSS, and global AML/KYC/CTF compliance workflows.
•Deep understanding of developer onboarding flows, sandbox environments, API key lifecycle management, and developer-facing UX heuristics.
•Mastery of RESTful API design principles, OpenAPI/Swagger standards, JSON schemas, webhooks, and idempotent transaction behaviors.
•Hands-on ability to write/review OpenAPI/Swagger specs and test endpoints using Postman or similar tools.
•Proficiency in creating and interpreting sequence diagrams, data flow diagrams, and user journeys to map out developer integration steps and data movements.
•Ability to analyze Developer Portal telemetry (e.g., API adoption, error rates, time-to-first-API-call) to inform roadmap prioritization.
•Proven ability to partner effectively with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and software engineers by providing crystal-clear, unambiguous BRDs.
•Exceptional ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into developer-friendly API specs and Portal features, while effectively communicating technical capabilities to Legal, CISOs, and business executives.
