You will lead mechanical engineering projects and technical workstreams spanning concept development, detailed design, system integration, verification, and product implementation. This role requires strong technical judgment, ownership, and collaboration across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and external partners to deliver robust mechanical solutions for complex medical technology systems.
This position is based in Boxborough, Massachusetts and requires an onsite presence four days per week to support hands-on design, prototyping, testing, and cross-functional collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities
•Lead mechanical engineering projects and technical workstreams from requirements definition through design, verification, and implementation.
•Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical components, assemblies, mechanisms, fixtures, and test equipment.
•Create, review, and release 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and documentation supporting product development activities.
•Conduct root-cause investigations for mechanical, integration, manufacturing, and product performance issues and implement corrective actions.
•Define verification strategies, author engineering test protocols, develop test fixtures, and evaluate test results.
•Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams to evaluate technical solutions and resolve engineering challenges.
•Support system integration, design reviews, engineering changes, configuration management, and design transfer activities.
•Drive technical decision-making by applying engineering analysis, risk assessment, and sound design principles.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of engineering experience OR Master's degree and 2+ years of engineering experience OR Ph.D with 0+ years of experience required.
•Experience in mechanical product development with ownership of engineering projects or major technical workstreams.
•Proficiency with 3D CAD software and engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Preferred Qualifications
•Experience designing mechanical and electromechanical systems, including design analysis, verification, and complex problem resolution.
•Experience collaborating with suppliers, subcontractors, and cross-functional stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
•Experience developing complex electromechanical or motion-control systems for capital equipment.
•Experience with SolidWorks, SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM), Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), or similar engineering data-management systems.
•Experience with verification planning, test fixture development, product transfer, and manufacturing readiness activities.
•Experience in regulated product development environments, including medical devices or X-ray imaging systems.
