About Dune
Dune provides structured blockchain data and intelligence that institutions, protocols, and analysts use to understand onchain finance. Its datasets span more than 130 chains and cover areas including stablecoins, RWAs, tokens, lending, and trading.
Responsibilities
•Design and build the control plane for the curated data lifecycle, including dependency-aware orchestration, backfills, restatements, retries, partial failure, and recovery
•Choose whether each dataset should be implemented as a model, service, or job, and own the architecture through production
•Design contracts between ingestion and curation so datasets can be understood end to end
•Build alerting and data quality signals that detect real problems while minimizing noise
•Work across Go, Kotlin, Rust, Python, and SQL, selecting the right tool for each task
•Break large problems into work other engineers can own and sequence delivery to ship useful outcomes early
Requirements
•Backend engineering experience with deep knowledge of data systems, or data engineering experience combined with strong software engineering skills
•Experience shipping production services, not only pipelines
•Experience building or materially extending orchestration and scheduling systems, with a precise understanding of what breaks at scale and why
•Experience handling schema evolution and data correctness in systems with downstream consumers
•Experience building or operating stateful stream processing in production
•Strong SQL and modeling skills on large datasets, and interest in how query engines execute workloads
•Solid computer science fundamentals and distributed systems understanding
•Ability to debug independently and drive root cause analysis through to a lasting fix
•Effective use of AI tools, understanding of their failure modes, and dislike of AI slop
•Clear written communication and ability to work effectively with a distributed team
Nice to have
•Deep experience with dbt or SQLMesh, including having reached their limits and built beyond them
•Parquet, Iceberg, or Deltalog
•Experience at a company where data is the product
Benefits
•Competitive salary and equity package; salary and equity are in the top 25% of companies in the space
•Employee equity scheme with a heavily discounted strike price (~90%) and a 10-year exercise window
•5 weeks PTO plus local public holidays, which can be swapped
•Flexible working hours; employees structure their own day
•Private medical, dental, and vision insurance
