The Opportunity
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer II to join our global Platform & Infrastructure Engineering team. In this role, you won't just keep the lights on—you'll actively engineer reliability, automation, and high performance across multi-cloud production environments handling billions in global transactions.
At Flywire, our SRE team treats infrastructure as software. We develop internal platform tools, automate software delivery, and integrate cutting-edge AI developer tooling (such as Claude Code and AWS Bedrock AgentCore) to empower software engineering teams to ship reliable, high-operability code at maximum velocity.
Key Responsibilities
•Architect & Maintain Infrastructure: Design, build, and optimize scalable, cloud-native core infrastructure with a relentless focus on availability, latency, capacity, and performance.
•Infrastructure as Software: Write clean, testable, and secure IaC using modern practices and tools like Terraform.
•Solve Systems Bottlenecks: Dive deep into cloud performance and architecture to proactively identify and resolve complex scalability issues.
•Embedded Engineering & Mentorship: Embed periodically within product engineering squads to advocate for production excellence, best practices, and developer enablement.
•Incident Response & Postmortems: Lead cross-stack debugging of production issues and drive blameless, learning-oriented postmortems.
•On-Call Collaboration: Share rotating on-call responsibilities within a collaborative, cross-disciplinary engineering environment.
Here's What We're Looking For
•Experience: 2–4 years of hands-on experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Platform Engineering.
•"T-Shaped" Mindset: A generalizing specialist comfortable moving between infrastructure, code, and operational architecture.
•Ecosystem Familiarity: Solid understanding of container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD build systems, cloud infrastructure, and emerging AI tools.
•Ownership & Problem-Solving: Comfortable taking ownership of complex distributed systems challenges and executing continuous improvements.
•Empathy & Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills with an "enable and empower" mindset toward engineering peers.
Technologies You'll Work With
•Languages: Go, Java
•Cloud Environments: AWS & GCP (heavy use of managed services & serverless)
•IaC & Containers: Terraform, Docker, Linux
•CI/CD & Source Control: GitLab CI/CD pipelines
•AI & GenAI Integration: Claude Code, AWS Bedrock AgentCore
•Observability: OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Sumo Logic
