About the Role
At Genesys, we help organizations create better customer experiences through AI-powered experience orchestration. Our platform connects people, systems, data and AI to help organizations deliver more personalized service, improve operational efficiency and build stronger customer relationships.
Help build, support and operate technology used by more than 8,000 organizations in over 100 countries – moving AI from possibility to production in real-world enterprise environments every day.
As a Senior UX Designer, you own the end-to-end design process from discovery through to release. You turn research insights into elegant, high-quality user experiences, handle challenging projects with moderate supervision, and actively mentor mid-level and associate designers.
You are technically fluent. Rather than relying solely on static mock-ups, you collaborate with next-generation AI coding tools to rapidly prototype, iterate, and validate live experiences. You have a strong technical vocabulary: whether reviewing AI-generated code or using browser Developer Tools (Console/Network tabs) to inspect JSON and API responses, you can diagnose interface issues and speak the same language as your engineering partners.
Beyond code, you use AI as a strategic partner to elevate stakeholder management and PM collaboration. You use AI tools to rapidly interpret research findings, draft clear product requirements, model user flows, and generate interactive prototypes on the fly. This allows you to visually align cross-functional partners, demonstrate technical feasibility early, and support swift, evidence-based design decisions across the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Design skills:
•End-to-End Product Design: Own the design process from discovery and problem definition through concepts, prototyping, testing, hand-off and release.
•Discovery & Research: Facilitate workshops and co-creation sessions with stakeholders to help align the team on the problem and solution. Partner with our UX research team, contribute to research planning, and apply their findings to shape product direction.
•AI-Enabled Design Practice: Explore and apply AI tools to improve the speed and quality of your design process, and share what works with the wider team.
•AI-assisted prototyping: Leverage next-generation AI tools (such as Claude Code or Cursor) to rapidly prototype, iterate, and bring design concepts to life.
•Directing AI Tools & Reviewing Output: Write clear, intentional prompts to guide AI generation, critically review proposed code changes for UX integrity, and confidently accept or reject AI outputs.
•Developer Hand-off & Release Support: Produce high-fidelity designs, interactive prototypes and clear specifications that cover states, responsiveness, accessibility and edge cases. Partner with engineers through build, review and QA, and support the release to protect design fidelity.
•Design System Contribution: Use, extend and refine our design system so that components are scalable, accessible and ready for enterprise use.
•Accessibility & Inclusive Design: Design to accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and apply inclusive design practices throughout the design process.
Technical skills:
You don't need to be a developer, but you should be comfortable working alongside engineers in a technical environment. We'd expect you to:
•Use browser Developer Tools: Read the Console and Network tabs to inspect logs, errors, and API responses. For example, you can recognise JSON output and tell a framework warning from a real failure, and you can describe what you found clearly to engineers.
•Read a codebase at a high level: Know roughly where components, styles, and design tokens live in a front-end project (for example Ember, React, CSS/SCSS), and read JavaScript, HTML and CSS well enough to spot errors in AI-generated output.
Soft skills:
•Autonomy & Ambiguity: Handle moderate levels of ambiguity independently, and escalate critical issues to management or partners proactively.
•Team Development: Mentor mid-level and associate designers and contribute to a high-performing, collaborative design team culture.
•Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with product managers and engineers to integrate design solutions into product roadmaps. Articulate design concepts, insights and a clear design rationale to multiple stakeholders and audiences.
•Continuous Improvement: Regularly participate in sprint planning and design reviews, offering constructive critique and promoting continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications
•Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in user experience or product design, with demonstrated ownership of the full product design lifecycle, from discovery through developer hand-off and release support.
•Education: Bachelor's or equivalent experience in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, or a related field.
•Design Tools: Deep knowledge of Figma and low-fi collaboration tools such as Miro/FigJam.
•AI in Practice: Hands-on experience using AI tools for prototyping or design work, with a critical eye for the quality of their output.
•Technical Fluency: Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS, comfortable using browser Developer Tools, and able to review code and spot mistakes in output from AI tools such as Claude Code.
•Design Systems & Accessibility: Experience working with, and contributing to, a design system, and familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
•Research Insights & Data: Experience applying research insights (such as usability findings and customer feedback) and product data to inform design decisions, and working alongside a dedicated UX research team. Hands-on research expertise is not required.
•Communication: Strong visual, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate a clear design rationale and tailor it to different audiences.
Preferred Experience
•Comfort in a terminal and local environment, navigating directories via the CLI, running basic commands, and spinning up local development servers (e.g., Vite, Next.js) to preview and test live prototypes.
•Experience using Git and Bitbucket: Understand branches, commits, and diffs, and create or review pull requests in Bitbucket. You can check that code changes match design intent and avoid overwriting others' work. Experience contributing small UI changes (copy, spacing, styling) directly through pull requests.
•Experience designing for enterprise-level applications, services or platforms (specifically support or call centres).
