Requires 5+ years in product design/UX, a strong portfolio, Figma proficiency, and experience collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams. About the Team
The Product Team creates high-quality end-to-end experiences for travelers, partners, and Expedia Group. Within Product & Technology, the AI Experiences team is shaping the next generation of travel shopping, exploring how AI can help travelers discover possibilities, make informed decisions, and confidently plan trips in a world of increasing choice and complexity.
As a Senior Product Designer, you'll help define how millions of travelers interact with AI throughout their shopping journey. You'll transform rapidly evolving AI capabilities into intuitive, transparent, and trustworthy experiences that feel helpful, human, and deeply useful.
This is a hands-on design role for someone excited by ambiguity, emerging technologies, and the opportunity to influence how AI-powered travel experiences are designed at global scale.
Location: Austin, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, with other EG Locations up for discussion.
In This Role, You Will:
Design AI-Powered Travel Experiences
•Own the end-to-end design of AI-powered shopping experiences, from early opportunity framing and interaction models through detailed execution, launch, and iteration.
•Translate complex AI capabilities into experiences that are intuitive, transparent, and understandable, helping travelers make confident decisions while maintaining a sense of control.
•Design across conversational, visual, and multimodal interfaces, creating cohesive experiences that meet travelers where they are and support different decision-making styles.
Partner Across Disciplines
•Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, Researchers, and Content Designers to shape how AI capabilities are introduced and experienced within Expedia Group products.
•Influence product direction by balancing traveler needs, business outcomes, and technical opportunities while thoughtfully navigating the realities and limitations of AI systems.
•Help teams identify opportunities where AI can genuinely improve the traveler experience rather than simply adding complexity.
Prototype, Learn, and Iterate
•Bring ideas to life through prototypes, experiments, and tangible design artifacts that accelerate learning and decision-making.
•Work directly with real AI outputs and evolving technologies to evaluate interaction patterns, identify edge cases, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
•Leverage research, analytics, experimentation, and customer feedback to continuously refine experiences and influence roadmap priorities.
Elevate Design Quality
•Contribute patterns, frameworks, and best practices that advance Expedia Group's approach to designing AI-powered experiences.
•Partner with fellow designers through critiques, reviews, and mentoring to raise the quality and consistency of work across the organization.
•Champion accessibility, inclusion, and responsible AI design principles throughout the product development process.

•Traveler Trust - You create AI experiences that feel intuitive, transparent, and reliable, helping travelers understand recommendations and confidently make decisions.
•Design Excellence - You deliver thoughtful, polished, and scalable solutions that demonstrate exceptional interaction and visual design craft.
•Cross-Functional Influence - You bring clarity to complex problems and help Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams align around a shared vision.
•Innovation With Impact - You thoughtfully explore emerging AI opportunities while maintaining a relentless focus on delivering meaningful customer value.
Minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
•5+ years of professional experience in product design, UX design, interaction design, or a related discipline.
•A portfolio demonstrating shipped digital products and a strong foundation in interaction design, visual design, and customer-centered problem solving.
•Expertise in at least one core design discipline (interaction design or visual design) and demonstrated strength across complementary areas such as prototyping, research, facilitation, information architecture, content strategy, or UX writing.
•Experience designing complex product experiences in collaboration with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional stakeholders.
•Understanding of how AI-powered experiences should communicate confidence, uncertainty, recommendations, limitations, and failure states.
•Ability to simplify ambiguity and articulate design rationale to audiences ranging from engineers to senior leaders.
•Proficiency with Figma and experience contributing to shared design systems and scalable component libraries.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience shipping AI-powered products, including conversational, recommendation, generative, voice, or multimodal experiences.
•Demonstrated experience designing for trust, transparency, explainability, and human oversight in AI-assisted experiences.
•Hands-on experience prototyping with AI tools, working directly with model outputs, or building interactive concepts that leverage LLMs or generative AI systems.
•Motion design experience used to communicate system state, AI reasoning, progress, transitions, and feedback loops.
•Experience working on travel, ecommerce, marketplace, fintech, or other high-consideration decision-making experiences.
•Familiarity with experimentation frameworks, behavioral analytics, and data-informed product design practices.
