Robotic Systems Engineer

In short

This senior Robotic Systems Engineer role at an early-stage industrial robotics company involves owning the core robotics software stack for an intelligent industrial work cell, covering motion planning, control, sensor integration, and on-site commissioning. The small team is based on-site in Munich, Germany, five days a week, with no visa sponsorship offered. Candidates need at least 5 years of hands-on robotics engineering experience with physical robot hardware, strong kinematics and control theory knowledge, and proficiency in C++ and/or Python.

About the Role
Join a small engineering team at an early-stage industrial robotics company and own the core robotics software stack for an intelligent industrial work cell. You will help bring motion planning, control, and sensor integration from development through deployment in real manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
•Develop and optimize motion planning, trajectory generation, and control for industrial robot arms.
•Integrate cameras, force and torque sensors, and other perception systems into real-time control loops.
•Implement industrial safety concepts and fail-safe behaviors.
•Lead on-site testing, calibration, and commissioning of robotic systems.
•Drive robotics architecture decisions and engineering best practices.
Requirements
•At least 5 years of robotics engineering experience working with physical robot hardware.
•Strong knowledge of kinematics, motion planning, and control theory, with hands-on experience generating trajectories for industrial robot arms in production environments.
•Proficiency in C++ and/or Python, plus experience with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
•Experience with industrial or collaborative robot arms, end-of-arm tooling, and sensor integration, including vision and force or torque sensors.
•Experience deploying robotic systems in industrial settings; surface-finishing, welding, or coating automation is helpful.
•Familiarity with ROS 2, machine vision or 3D perception, and industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT or OPC-UA is useful.
•Fluent English; German is a plus.
•Must be eligible to work in Germany.
Conditions
•Equity participation is available.
•Visa sponsorship is not available.
•Location: on-site in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, five days per week.
