Famedly

Product manager healthcare

In short

Senior Product Manager role at Famedly, a startup building secure communication solutions for the German healthcare sector (hospitals, practices, insurers) based on the Matrix protocol and TI Messenger. The role owns product strategy, market/user research, opportunity prioritization and business cases for the healthcare domain, working closely with Design, Tech Lead and Head of Product. Requires 3+ years B2B/B2C product management experience, proven healthcare/health IT background, knowledge of German telematics infrastructure (TI/gematik), and native-level German plus good English; only candidates residing in Germany or the EU/EEA are considered. Fully remote with option of a Berlin office.

About the Role
Famedly develops secure, open communication solutions for the healthcare sector. Based on the Matrix protocol, we connect hospitals, medical practices, care facilities and health insurers, including as a provider of the TI Messenger. We work in a regulated environment with high standards for data protection and interoperability, tackling a problem that is felt every day in the German healthcare system: communication that still runs through fax, phone and notes.
As Product Manager Healthcare, you own the "why" and "what" of our healthcare products. You turn strategy, market insights and user insights into evaluated opportunities and initiatives with clear goals, success metrics and a sound business case, and guide them through to measurable impact in the market.
Responsibilities
•You derive goals, KPIs and success metrics for the healthcare area from product strategy and company objectives, analyze the market, competition and trends in the health IT environment, and contribute strategic options.
•You bring together identified problems, requests for improvements and new ideas from customer conversations, Sales, Customer Success, Support and usage data into opportunities, and evaluate them based on strategic fit, user value, customer demand and commercial relevance. You also evaluate ideas for internal initiatives, for example from Management, Product and Tech.
•Together with the Design team, you plan and conduct research through direct engagement with medical professionals, IT leads and decision-makers, both qualitative (interviews, observation in everyday hospital settings, usability tests) and quantitative (surveys, usage data), and validate problems and proposed solutions before development.
•You synthesize the findings so they inform prioritization and the roadmap.
•You assess which use cases our products should cover, where we should deliberately say no, or where partner solutions make more sense.
•Together with the Head of Product, you identify initiatives based on this, develop their business cases and prioritize them in preparation for planning.
•You are responsible for product analytics and tracking (events, KPIs, dashboards); implementation is carried out with the Tech Lead and development team.
•You measure product KPIs and success metrics and make decisions based on usage, customer and market data, in compliance with data protection requirements in the sensitive healthcare environment.
•You track relevant changes to gematik specifications, Matrix and regulations, and translate them into product-relevant implications, opportunities and risks.
•You prepare launches with Sales, Marketing and Support and ensure that customers understand the value. After launch, you measure adoption and impact based on the defined success metrics and derive improvements.
•You use AI as a matter of course in research, analysis and synthesis, for example to cluster and evaluate problems, requests for improvements and ideas. You also identify and assess AI potential in our products, with regard to user value, data protection and regulatory requirements in healthcare.
Requirements
•3+ years of experience in product management for B2B/B2C software, ideally SaaS
•Proven experience in healthcare or health IT: you have worked for or with hospitals, medical practices, payers or health IT providers and can describe medical workflows
•Knowledge of the telematics infrastructure (TI) and gematik specifications, as well as its applications such as TI Messenger and KIM
•Confident in strategy and business cases: market analysis, competitive analysis, ROI assessment
•Experience with opportunity management and prioritization frameworks
•Experience with discovery and research methods, both qualitative and quantitative (e.g. interviews, usability tests, surveys, prototyping)
•Data skills: defining KPIs and success metrics, analyzing usage data and deriving decisions from it
•A practiced, critical approach to AI tools in research and analysis
•A basic technical understanding: you understand the technical impact of requirements and ask the right questions
•Strong communication and facilitation skills with customers, management and teams
•Native-level German and good English skills
Nice to Have
•Experience with hospital IT landscapes (HIS, practice management systems) and their integration realities
•Experience with Jira Product Discovery or comparable tools
•Experience with product analytics tools
Conditions

•With remote work, you decide when and where you are most productive. You also have the option to work in our Berlin office. You choose: set up your home office or use a coworking space!
•An attractive salary, modern work equipment and 28 days of annual leave.
•With your monthly Probonio budget, you decide how to use it—for example, for a discounted Urban Sports Club membership or vouchers for food, mobility, shopping and lifestyle.
•You also receive attractive corporate discounts and benefit from our company bike-leasing scheme.
