About Kraken
Kraken is a crypto platform offering spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services to individual investors and institutional clients. Its Compliance Operations teams detect and respond to financial crime through investigation workflows and supporting systems.
Responsibilities
•Own and defend the end-to-end investigation-platform roadmap, adjusting priorities when regulators or the RCO raise a P0
•Define phased deliverables and acceptance criteria before development starts, secure Compliance sign-off, and manage scope changes
•Build an intake process connecting Compliance policy, monitoring rules, and case management so investigators are ready for workflow changes
•Reconcile policy and SOPs with investigators' actual work and system behavior; distinguish process fixes from technical fixes and identify requests in scope for engineering
•Understand and challenge the pipeline across ingestion, profile and transaction resolution, suppression and grouping logic, and reconciliation between vendor output and case management; explain it to auditors with live examples
•Make auditability a first-class requirement, covering audit trails, data lineage, evidence retention, reviewer attribution, change-management controls, and validation of filtering and suppression logic
•Ship automation and AI into regulated workflows with controls that meet Compliance, IT, and privacy audit requirements, including human-in-the-loop design, explainability, and ongoing monitoring
•Run the operating rhythm through a shared forum with engineering and adjacent product managers, regular stakeholder updates, and consistent delivery-status reporting
Requirements
•4+ years of product management, including 2+ years on financial-crime systems such as transaction monitoring, investigations, case management, KYC/EDD, or sanctions screening
•Working knowledge of how AML programmes are examined, including regulator, internal audit, and model validation questions about monitoring, filing, and control systems
•Technical fluency to discuss data flows and system design with engineers and identify designs that do not meet requirements
•Track record of shipping internal tools or operational platforms that measurably changed how an operations team works
•Clear, concise writing for PRDs, phase plans, audit walkthroughs, and executive updates
•Sound judgement to explain when a timeline is unrealistic because requirements are not written, while maintaining stakeholder relationships
Nice to have
•Direct FIU experience such as alert disposition, SAR/STR filing, or leading investigators
•Crypto or digital-asset experience such as blockchain analytics, wallet-level transaction analysis, or focal vs counterparty logic
•Experience shipping AI or ML into a regulated investigative workflow, including control design
•Build-vs-buy and vendor evaluation for monitoring or case-management tooling
•Experience with programmes spanning jurisdictions (UK, EU/MiCA, US)
