Mendix

Product Designer- Cloud

In short

Product Designer role in Mendix's Cloud Unit (part of Siemens Digital Industries Software), shaping a new agentic low-code platform with heavy focus on AI-human agent interaction design. Requires 2–5 years of product design experience, strong UX/UI craft, design-system experience, and hands-on use of AI-assisted coding tools for functional prototyping. Hybrid role based in Rotterdam, collaborating closely with product managers, technical leads, and developers.

About the Role
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for digital innovation and transformation. Our portfolio includes product lifecycle management, electronic design automation, low-code application development, and enterprise software solutions that help companies accelerate innovation and create lasting value. At Mendix, we empower organizations to build, deploy, and govern modern applications using our low-code platform. With the resources of a large company and the innovation of a software leader, we create solutions that enable our customers to achieve more.
Join the Cloud Unit within Mendix R&D, helping customers deploy, operate, and govern applications and platform environments. We make complex cloud capabilities, administration, and integrations easier to use. You'll help shape a new agentic platform, working with product managers, technical leads, and developers to frame problems, validate ideas, and deliver well-crafted experiences, including interactions between people and AI agents. AI is central to what we build and how we work. We value strong UX and UI craft through clear thinking, communication, rapid prototyping, and attention to the implemented experience, not just polished design files.
Responsibilities
•Work with product and technical teams to discover and frame problems, challenge assumptions, and explore opportunities.
•Create concepts and functional prototypes using AI-assisted coding tools to explore behaviours, test assumptions, and support product decisions.
•Conduct concept-validation sessions and usability tests with Research Ops support.
•Test user understanding, task success, and recovery when things go wrong, and use findings to improve designs.
•Deliver detailed UI and interaction designs, including how people guide, review, and correct AI agents.
•Apply existing design-system patterns and contribute improvements where needed.
•Work closely with developers through implementation and conduct design QA to improve usability and experience quality.
•Communicate decisions clearly, share work in progress, and own defined problems with guidance while collaborating on more complex challenges.
Requirements
•Around 2–5 years of relevant product design experience and a design degree or equivalent practical experience.
•Strong UX, interaction, and UI design skills, with experience using design systems.
•Hands-on experience using AI in research and design workflows and building functional prototypes with AI-assisted coding tools.
•Experience validating concepts, testing usability, and collaborating with product managers and developers.
•Initiative, comfort with ambiguity, and willingness to challenge assumptions and learn from feedback.
•Clear written and spoken English, with the ability to articulate ideas and explain design decisions.
•Experience designing AI-powered or human–agent experiences.
•Experience with B2B SaaS, enterprise software, cloud platforms, deployment, operations, or governance.
Conditions
At Siemens Software, flexibility is how we work—hybrid by default, built on trust and autonomy. Together, 30,000 people across more than 200 countries build technology that shapes the real world. You'll grow through real projects, strong technical peers, and global mobility, backed by the scale and benefits of an industrial software leader.
The salary range for this position is €60,000–€75,000, and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate's job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training. Siemens offers health and wellness benefits, accessible via a country-specific link.
You'll join a design team working across multiple product and development teams. We use Figma and AI-assisted tools, but specific tools are not a checklist. Functional prototyping is expected; production coding is not. Hybrid arrangements are agreed within the team.
Your Portfolio
Show how you think, collaborate, and learn, from problem framing to testing and delivery. Include work-in-progress artefacts, prototypes, and how findings changed your designs. Explain your contribution, trade-offs, and outcomes where available. We value an honest view of your process over a polished sales presentation.
