About the Role
As Principal Engineer (m/f/d) Mechanical Design for Vertical Plating, you develop and take responsibility for complex mechanical components, assemblies and modules for demanding wet-chemical process equipment. You combine your extensive experience with plating and wet process equipment with cross-disciplinary understanding to develop robust, process-safe and cost-efficient design solutions. You work at the Feucht location in Research and Development, define cross-project technical standards, decide on complex design questions and accompany projects from the concept phase through to series readiness. In this role you take on the technical leadership of multidisciplinary development projects and act as an international technical authority.
Your Responsibilities
•Take technical responsibility for the development and optimization of vertical wet process equipment with a focus on process quality, reliability, cost efficiency and user friendliness.
•Design of components, assemblies and modules considering manufacturing, materials, as well as corrosion and media resistance; define technical standards including tolerance management.
•Design of pump and piping systems including pressure loss calculation and flow analysis.
•Technical leadership of feasibility studies including technical and economic evaluation of solution concepts as well as definition of system architectures for future product generations.
•Plan, conduct and evaluate tests; create robust reports and technical documentation.
•Further develop existing platforms through DFMA approaches, risk analyses (e.g. FMEA) and design reviews.
•Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues through reviews, mentoring and cross-project knowledge exchange.
Your Skills and Competencies
•Completed technical degree; alternatively long-standing, solid experience in plant engineering for plating or wet-chemical process equipment.
•Extensive experience with design, development and characterization of wet-chemical process equipment as well as in defining cross-project technical standards and system architectures.
•Confident use of Autodesk Inventor and PRO.FILE in daily work.
•Very good analytical skills and confident use of development methods such as DFMA and FMEA.
•Experience in the technical leadership of international, interdisciplinary development projects as well as willingness to travel occasionally.
•Very good German skills as well as confident English in technical communication, spoken and written.
•Strong teamwork and communication skills as well as the ability to convincingly represent technical directional decisions across project boundaries and to develop engineers professionally.
