Akveo is an IT company specializing in web, mobile, low-code, and AI solutions for clients in the USA and Europe. It develops software products that help businesses automate processes and implement innovations, and is expanding its AI-driven solutions. The company has about 100 professionals, development centers in Poland and Lithuania, and representatives in the US.
The client is a European technology company building an AI platform that analyzes geospatial data from satellite imagery, sensors, and other sources to support decision-making, including maritime monitoring and critical infrastructure protection.
Responsibilities
•Take over the system architecture, repositories, AWS infrastructure, databases, and deployment from the outgoing tech lead
•Own and evolve the platform architecture without unnecessary redesign
•Integrate AI detection models into the production data-processing pipeline
•Complete ingestion and processing of optical, SAR, and other data sources
•Design PostgreSQL/PostGIS schemas for imagery, detections, and analytics
•Develop multi-source data fusion, anomaly detection, risk scoring, and alerting capabilities
•Own AWS deployment, containerization, orchestration, logging, and monitoring
•Build secure backend services and APIs with authentication and RBAC
•Connect the WebGIS dashboard to the backend and build end-to-end workflows from data to user interface
•Own testing, validation, and technical reporting
•Maintain documentation, version control, and architecture decision records
•Coordinate additional backend, frontend, and DevOps specialists as needed
Requirements
•Proven track record of delivering geospatial platforms, including WebGIS and spatial data platforms, to production
•7+ years in software development, including several years as a tech lead, architect, or CTO at a product or technology company
•Hands-on approach, with the ability to write code and work with infrastructure
•Strong AWS experience in architecture, deployment, and cloud operations
•Python experience for backend services and integrating AI/ML inference into production
•PostgreSQL/PostGIS and geospatial data modeling experience
•Experience with REST APIs, GeoJSON, and machine-to-machine interfaces
•Experience with production data ingestion and processing pipelines
•Experience with Docker, CI/CD, and reproducible environments
•Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability
•Experience with authentication, RBAC, and security-conscious development
•Experience with Git, configuration, and release management
•English at B2 level or higher
•Understand production ML well enough to define, integrate, and validate model interfaces; training detection models is not required
Nice to Have
•Earth Observation and satellite data experience, especially optical and SAR pipelines
•Monitoring, situational awareness, or critical infrastructure protection projects
•Sensor/data fusion, object tracking, and temporal geospatial analytics
•Decision-support systems
•Participation in ESA/EU or national space agency programs
•Understanding of TRL and verification & validation processes
•Swedish language skills or experience working with Swedish partners
