About
Health Cloud Initiative develops Uw Zorg Online, a platform that brings people's medical data and care providers together and lets them manage their healthcare online. It connects with general practices, hospitals, pharmacies, and allied health professionals across the Netherlands.
Responsibilities
•Lead the rebuild of the iOS and Android app from a shared codebase, including architecture, project structure, state management, navigation, and native modules
•Help choose between React Native and Flutter, then establish the foundation for the team
•Set up the release pipeline, including CI/CD, versioning, staged rollouts, store submissions, crash reporting, and analytics
•Audit the current app's screens with product and design, deciding what should be a native mobile screen and what can remain in a mobile web view
•Work with the backend team on a new BFF layer, define API contracts, and help move business logic and validation from the app to the backend
•Monitor performance, accessibility (WCAG), and app-store health with every release
•Plan and execute a phased rollout, running the old and new apps side by side while features and users migrate gradually
•Use AI as part of development, including AI-assisted screen conversion
Requirements
•Several years of experience building and shipping production apps for iOS and Android from a shared codebase, with clear seniority
•Production-grade knowledge of React Native or Flutter, including native modules, platform-specific behavior, framework upgrades, and build tooling
•Experience taking an app from initial development through store release and maintaining it, including releases, store review, staged rollouts, and crash triage
•Strong understanding of app architecture, state management, and trade-offs between offline-first, caching, and always-online designs
•Ability to define and consume APIs and discuss contracts, authentication, and data flow with backend teams
•Ability to set technical direction, review work, document decisions, and explain technical choices to product teams and non-engineers
•Strong focus on performance and accessibility, with experience testing on real devices
•Comfortable working in a distributed team that includes colleagues outside the Netherlands
•All HCI roles require a VOG (proof of conduct)
Nice to have
•Experience with both React Native and Flutter
•Replacing a live legacy app such as Cordova, Ionic, or PhoneGap
•Mobile CI/CD tools such as Fastlane, EAS, Codemagic, or GitHub Actions
•Privacy-sensitive or regulated domains and standards such as AVG/GDPR, NEN 7510/ISO 27001, or MDR
•Authentication such as DigiD
•A native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) background
•Working knowledge of Dutch
Conditions
•€ 5.500,- to € 6.500,- gross per month based on 40 hours
•8% Holiday allowance, internet allowance, and a pension scheme
•24 Holidays, with the option to swap public holidays

•Personal development budget of € 1,000 and time for training
