DePuy Synthes is recruiting for this role, located in New Jersey.
Role Purpose and Scope
This role provides enterprise-wide architecture leadership during the separation from Johnson & Johnson and the establishment of DePuy Synthes as a standalone company. It translates business and technology strategy into target-state views, transition architectures, standards, and prioritized decisions. The role also coordinates the work of domain architects, helps the Chief Architect run architecture governance, and ensures that Day 1 and TSA-exit decisions remain consistent with the longer-term enterprise direction.
Key Responsibilities
•Co-own, with the Chief Architect, the integrated current-state, transition-state, and target-state enterprise architecture and the roadmap required to move between them.
•Define enterprise integration strategy and reusable patterns for APIs, events, batch/file exchange, data movement, master data, partner connectivity, and application-to-application interoperability.
•Establish architecture principles and standards for interoperability across ITSM, site delivery, ERP, commercial, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, data, AI, cybersecurity, and Technology Services.
•Lead business capability mapping, application portfolio rationalization, dependency analysis, lifecycle governance, and technology-standard alignment.
•Partner with the Chief Architect to operate architecture governance, including intake, triage, design reviews, ARB preparation, decision records, exceptions, risks, and technical-debt follow-up.
•Assess major programs and platform proposals, surface cross-domain impacts, develop options and trade-offs, and provide evidence-based recommendations to senior leaders.
•Ensure separation, Day 1 readiness, and TSA-exit designs account for interfaces, data flows, identity, security, infrastructure, operational support, resilience, and decommissioning dependencies.
•Create and maintain reference architectures, enterprise blueprints, roadmaps, standards, and reusable decision templates in the designated EA repository.
•Coordinate architecture alignment across domain architects and functional leaders while preserving execution accountability within the owning organizations.
•Coach architects and solution teams in architecture methods, modeling, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
Key Partnerships
•Chief Architect and CTO leadership team
•Applications and ERP, Commercial, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory, Data and AI, and Cybersecurity leaders
•Technology Services leaders for cloud, infrastructure, end-user services, ITSM, platform engineering, AIOps, and FinOps
•Program leadership, product teams, solution architects, delivery partners, and strategic suppliers
Expected Outcomes
•A governed enterprise target-state architecture and transition roadmap that is understood across business and technology leadership.
•Traceable architecture decisions and dependencies supporting Day 1 readiness and TSA-exit execution.
•Consistent enterprise integration patterns that reduce duplication, fragility, and point-to-point complexity.
•A practical EA operating model with predictable intake, review, standards, exceptions, and decision governance.
•Improved portfolio transparency through capability, application, interface, technology, risk, and lifecycle views.
