Responsibilities
•Participate in project planning with clients, business analysts, and team members to analyze requirements and recommend designs for complex systems
•Define and design project scope with project teams
•Work with planning and technology architects to align systems with the long-term IT strategy
•Recommend designs and develop application and custom integration solutions, including major enhancements and interfaces
•Modify existing software applications according to high-level specifications and industry standards
•Review work for compliance with application architecture standards
•Develop new cross-functional software systems using disciplined software development processes
•Perform unit testing and implement cross-functional systems that meet client and business needs
•Research emerging technologies
•Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to application development teams
•Use and stay current with multiple programming languages and software technologies
•Perform and test firmware and OS upgrades, troubleshoot system issues, and arrange hardware replacements and upgrades for platforms including HPE Synergy
Requirements
•Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
•Good communication skills
•Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment with little daily supervision
•5+ years of experience as a Linux, Windows, VMWare, and Solace systems engineer or in an equivalent DevOps role in an enterprise environment
•IT lab administrator experience maintaining test environment health
•Expert-level understanding of Linux RHEL 7.x and 8.0, MS Windows Server 2008–2019, vSphere v6.x and 7.0, Solace PubSub+ and associated software
•Good knowledge of Windows- and Linux-based hardware platforms, such as IBM, HP, and Dell
•Thorough understanding of RAID storage and TCP/IP networking
Nice to Have
•Experience with OS deployment and orchestration tools, automation pipelines, scripts and change processes
•HPE enterprise-class hardware, HPE c7000 blade chassis and Synergy frames, Dell R6xx rackmount servers
•SAN design and usage
•VMWare ESXi Server, vSphere and Virtual Center
•AWS EC2 images and containers, CloudWatch, Kubernetes, Route53 or Azure/GCP equivalents
•Active Directory design and administration
•Presenting information to senior organizational levels
•Advanced knowledge of Windows- and Linux-based hardware platforms and scripting facilities
•Perl, C, PHP, VBScript, or Python development
•Automation and orchestration using RunDeck and HPE OneView/Image Streamer/Composer
