The Opportunity
In this role, you will help shape the next generation of large power transformers and shunt reactors used across the global power grid. As part of an experienced engineering team, you will create, modify, and study electrical designs that support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of grid-critical equipment. Working on assignments of medium to high complexity, you will turn design concepts into manufacturable and constructible solutions, ensuring that your work supports project priorities, performance expectations, and delivery commitments.
You will collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, production, and project management teams, contributing to the development of high-quality, innovative products that keep customers ahead of evolving technical and market demands. This work exposes you to sophisticated engineering practices, hazard-identification methods, material evaluations, cost-reduction opportunities, and design reviews that directly influence manufacturing, fabrication, and construction outcomes. As you grow in the role, you will gain exposure to advanced power-equipment technologies while sharing your knowledge within the wider engineering community.
How You'll Make an Impact
•Create customized electrical designs for large power transformers and shunt reactors while respecting customer requirements and identify optimization solutions hazards.
•Update electrical designs by incorporating new standards, components, materials, and functionalities.
•Distinguish in-scope and out-of-scope design requests and provide time and cost estimations.
•Develop work plans and cost estimates and ensure deliverables meet quality, schedule, and cost targets.
•Carry out risk and opportunity reviews within your scope and recommend actions to address issues.
•Collaborate with supply chain teams by reviewing vendor documentation, preparing RFQs, and evaluating proposals for non-standard materials or equipment.
•Work with supply chain and logistics functions to help drive material cost-reduction efforts.
•Share knowledge across the business, participate in project meetings, and present key design elements.
•Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
