About the role
Kraken is a crypto platform offering spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services to individual investors and institutional clients. The Growth Foundations team builds foundational frontend infrastructure, component systems, and standards for Kraken's .com platform.
Responsibilities
•Design, build, and ship a component library and design system using React.js and the custom-built CMS
•Build and document reusable, accessible components and integrate them with the CMS for dynamic content management and configuration
•Deliver polished, pixel-perfect UI implementations that translate designs into production, collaborating closely with Design
•Deliver multiple projects and initiatives quickly while balancing speed and quality
•Establish and evolve frontend best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns across the organization
•Create component documentation and guidelines for consistent and efficient development across teams
•Set code quality standards, mentor junior and senior engineers, and influence technical decisions and strategy
•Design and implement scalable, well-documented systems for multiple teams and initiatives
•Optimize component performance, accessibility, and developer experience
•Drive process improvements and establish foundational frontend patterns and practices
Requirements
•A keen eye for design and a passion for pixel-perfect implementation
•Strong understanding of component-driven design and reusable architecture patterns
•Experience building and maintaining design systems or component libraries at scale
•Track record of delivering projects quickly in fast-paced environments
•Passion for establishing best practices and improving developer experience across teams
•Strong communication skills for collaborating with designers, product managers, and engineers
•4+ years of software development experience focused on web and component-driven applications
•Deep understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and proficiency with React
•Strong UI engineering skills, including advanced CSS and translating mockups into pixel-perfect, responsive interfaces
•Experience with modern frontend build tools such as webpack and vite
•Experience with RESTful APIs or GraphQL design and integration
•Proficiency with frontend testing frameworks and component testing best practices
•Experience working with or integrating a custom-built or headless CMS
•Strong understanding of WCAG accessibility and UI/UX best practices
•Experience in a large technology organization or fast-growing startup
•Strong written and verbal English communication skills

•Knowledge of cryptocurrency and blockchain
•Next.js and server-side rendering
•TypeScript in a large codebase
•Experience mentoring engineers on component architecture and best practices
