About the Role
Millennium is a global, diversified alternative investment firm, founded in 1989. Defined by evolution, innovation and focus, Millennium's mission is to deliver results for our investors. We are deploying bespoke AI workflows directly to trading teams that will enable them to beat the market by utilizing these new technologies. Our team is searching for Applied AI engineers for this mandate. The ideal candidate will have a blend of rapid prototyping and software engineering skills. Focus is on end-to-end solutions in a forward deployed engineer capacity. The candidate should be highly flexible, able to quickly explore feasibility, and deploy durable solutions.
Responsibilities
•Engage directly with portfolio managers in an advisory capacity.
•Understand and translate Portfolio Manager and business problems into robust, production-ready AI solutions.
•Design, build, test, deploy, and own LLM-based solutions that solve specific Portfolio Manager workflows and generalize into reusable AI capabilities.
•Rapidly prototype and iterate based on subject expert evaluation.
•Design and implement agentic AI systems that perform multi-step reasoning, planning, and tool execution.
•Own the end-to-end LLM architecture and lifecycle, including prompt design, model selection, evaluation, deployment, and iteration.
•Spend an initial 3–6 months partnering with multiple Portfolio Manager teams to gain fluency in Millennium's technology stack and deliver robust solutions.
Requirements
•Master's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 5+ years of industry experience.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to operate independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
•Knowledge of financial markets, particularly Equities, including experience with market data and documents.
•Experience with agentic and LLM frameworks.
•Strong understanding of agentic patterns including tool use, planning, memory, and reflection.
•Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, vector databases, and semantic search systems.
Conditions
Successful engineers will have the opportunity to embed with a dedicated investment team for six months, with the potential for permanent placement.
