About Grover
Founded in 2015, Grover enables consumers and businesses across Europe to subscribe to tech devices and comprehensive technology solutions - from individual smartphones, laptops, and wearables to full corporate device setups. The company offers access to over 1,000 unique tech items on flexible and financially convenient terms. A pioneer of the circular economy, Grover refurbishes and recirculates devices to help eliminate e-waste.
To continue this incredible adventure, Grover is currently looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join its talented Data Platform team.
Responsibilities
•Architect, scale, and maintain high-volume ingestion pipelines, including preprocessing and parsing complex payloads before landing in the warehouse.
•Build end-to-end automations across AWS (S3), Airflow, and the cloud data warehouse while stabilizing, documenting, and migrating legacy data flows.
•Own and evolve Apache Airflow as a platform, driving version upgrades, configuration, and architectural best practices.
•Implement monitoring, alerting, resource tracking, and automated data quality checks, diagnosing pipeline issues at the root cause.
•Take active responsibility for the data platform's costs (e.g., Snowflake credits). Optimize warehouse performance and build systems to track compute usage down to the individual user level, ensuring all ~30 data champions are operating efficiently and accountable for the costs they generate.
•Serve as a senior technical voice on platform decisions and enable decentralized analytics by building a platform that serves ~30 data champions.
Requirements
•5+ years in data engineering with deep proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern ELT design patterns, ideally within dynamic tech companies.
•Hands-on production experience with modern cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) and Apache Airflow.
•Proven experience designing cloud data infrastructure (ideally AWS) and provisioning scalable environments using Terraform.
•Solid track record with Git, testing frameworks, CI/CD, proactive documentation, and reducing technical debt.
•A strong cost-ownership mindset. Beyond standard compute sizing and storage management, experience in (or clear appreciation for) building usage tracking, attributing costs to specific users or queries, and proactively staying on top of the platform's cost optimization.
•Pragmatic systems thinker who translates business requirements into technical solutions and communicates effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, which is the company language.
Nice to have: Hands-on experience with dbt, Kubernetes, and Kafka
