About DataChef
Join a team of specialists, a band of experts, a family of Chefs. DataChef is a rapidly growing, boutique consulting firm founded in 2019 based in The Hague. We're not your typical corporate firm. We're profitable, self-funded, and our growth trajectory is skyrocketing. Our strength lies in delivering big data and AI solutions to companies with lots of scattered data and no time for trial and error.
Responsibilities
•You shield the team from shifting priorities and organizational noise, providing clear direction and focus on what matters most, while staying alert to opportunities that could deliver even greater impact.
•While the team focuses on today's priorities, you work with the engineering lead to shape the most important work for the upcoming cycle, ensuring the team is ready to pick up the implementation when the time comes.
•You discover and design data products that make an impact, from the inception to the operating model.
•Every consultant should ABC (Always Be Communicating), but it's specifically your responsibility to organize the way we communicate our success.
•As an expert in Data Product Management, you also elevate the knowledge of people around you by introducing and promoting a data-as-a-product mindset.
•Together with a few other chefs, you'll help our clients to build and productionize products.
•Your default will be delivering a timely and tangible output.
•You'll help with interviewing and selecting future chefs.
•Actively share knowledge with your team and learn from their expertise in return.
•Excellent presentation skills: your slides feature clear information architecture, clean design, and a wow factor. You're also comfortable presenting without slides.
Requirements
•Extensive experience working in close contact with software engineers and enabling them to deliver value. Note that we're not hiring an "agile coach" and we don't care about Scrum ceremonies and story points.
•Experience leading multiple data and AI-related initiatives, with a solid understanding of cross-cutting concepts and common pitfalls.
•A sharp product intuition, a deep focus on customer needs, and unlimited curiosity to ask questions and uncover patterns.
•Desire to get your hands dirty with the data. That also means at least basic command of SQL and Python.
•At least 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
•Motivated by client problems, and find joy in creating simple, elegant solutions that avoid unnecessary complexity.
•Moving off any solution before asking questions, listening actively, exploring the context, and simply building trust with clients.
•Always putting usefulness and adaptability above solving imaginary scaling issues.
•Passion for simplifying and clearly explaining complex topics in person and in writing.
•Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Nice to have:
•Knowledge of the core principles of frameworks such as Domain-Driven Design, Data Mesh, Wardley Mapping, and Team Topologies.
•Knowledge of the Shape Up methodology for product development.
•Adoption of AI tools for fast prototyping.
Conditions
•Competitive salary, among the top 5% for this kind of role in the Netherlands.
•Reimbursement of home internet bill.
•Reimbursement of commuting costs.
•Reimbursement of software licenses.
•Use of DataChef MasterClass, ACloud.guru subscription, and other insightful resources: DestroyAllSoftware, PacktPub, Real Python, Pragmatic Engineer, Byte Byte Go, … (the list can change over time).
•Extended and fully paid maternity/paternity leave for the first nine weeks.

•Charitable gift and donation matching: when you donate to a qualified charity, they match your gift (up to €500 per chef/per year).
•One week paid reunion retreat every year at a leisure destination (last year on a boat in Turkey).
•Holiday gift.
