Chemical Synthesis Engineer/Scientist Co-op

About the Role
You will design, synthesize, test, and scale catalyst formulations for high-temperature reactors. You will operate bench-scale reactors, characterize materials and degradation, analyze experimental data, document results, maintain formulation records, and collaborate on reactor, coating, and system-integration requirements.
Requirements
•Be a B.S. or M.S. candidate in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
•Have hands-on chemical synthesis and wet-lab experience
•Understand reaction kinetics, heat transfer, and mass transport
•Plan, document, and execute experiments and apply statistical analysis
•Follow safe laboratory practices for chemicals, high-temperature furnaces, and compressed gases
•Communicate results effectively in writing and verbally
Responsibilities
•Synthesize novel catalyst formulations, including supports, active phases, and precursor solutions
•Operate bench-scale test reactors and track catalyst activity, selectivity, and stability
•Scale promising formulations for coating large catalyst substrates
•Develop scalable manufacturing techniques with external partners
•Use characterization techniques to understand materials and degradation mechanisms
•Collaborate on reactor design, coatings, and system integration requirements
•Develop and execute catalyst synthesis plans, hypotheses, variables, and experiments
•Analyze experimental data, prepare reports, and maintain formulation and performance records
