Payhawk

Associate Product Manager, Banking & Treasury

In short

This role owns scoped Banking and Treasury workstreams at an AI-powered spend management platform, taking features from discovery through release across payments, FX and treasury products used in Europe, the Americas and APAC. The company serves finance teams in 32+ countries and processes payments across 119 currencies in 150 countries. It demands understanding of payment rails/FX, comfort with data and AI tools, SQL or Python skills, and the ability to coordinate with banking partners, compliance and legal on regulated launches. Fully remote, full-time, middle-level position requiring about 2 years of experience.

Company Mission
Payhawk is one AI-powered spend management platform for scaling businesses — corporate cards, expense management, procurement, and accounts payable, unified in one place. We serve finance teams across 32+ countries, cutting month-end close time and reconciling 99.7% of transactions with zero manual touch. AI runs through the platform as core infrastructure, not a bolted-on feature — and we hire the top 1% of talent in every function to keep building it that way.
Why Payhawk
Payhawk, where the bold builders make an impact. We're not a family, we're a high-performance team — and that's deliberate. We debate, ideate, and push each other to be better, because the best ideas come from direct feedback. We've already made history as Bulgaria's first unicorn, but the ambition doesn't stop there: if you want to grow fast - own it; do not wait for it.
Give: Honest opinions, real ownership, a focus on outcomes.
Get: A front-row seat to a market leader in one of the fastest-moving industries.
You will take scoped Banking and Treasury workstreams from discovery to release, across the payments, FX, and treasury products Payhawk customers use in Europe, the Americas, and APAC.
Responsibilities
•Run discovery on scoped Banking features: customer interviews, Intercom and Gong signal, and Jira PE ideas, turned into a clear problem statement and recommendation.
•Write specs and Jira tickets, and drive day-to-day delivery with the Banking engineering team and UX.
•Prepare release documentation with PMM and the technical writer team: release narratives, key messages by persona, and help content.
•Support currency and payment rail launches across Payhawk's coverage of 119 currencies in 150 countries, such as new local currencies, SWIFT GPI tracking, and scheme limits across SEPA, FPS and ACH.
•Handle second-line follow-up with an increasing number of banking partners (JPMorgan, Banking Circle, LHV, Cross River Bank and others) on integration questions, fees and incidents.
•Coordinate with Compliance, Legal and Treasury on regulated launches, for example funds flow diagrams and safeguarding wording.
•Investigate customer payment escalations, find the root cause, and close the loop.
Requirements
•A working understanding of how money moves (payment rails, FX, the role of banks and EMIs), or the curiosity to learn it fast.
•Comfort with data and AI tools across product work: data analysis, discovery synthesis, design and prototyping, and hypothesis testing.
•Ability to frame a hypothesis, decide how to validate it, and define success metrics before anything gets built.
•Sound prioritization: weighing customer impact, effort and regulatory risk to make clear trade-offs.
•Skill in turning customer problems into requirements engineers can build from.
•Enough SQL or Python to answer your own questions from the warehouse.
•Clear, precise writing, including for compliance and legal audiences.
•Structured thinking. Ownership of follow-through.
•Exposure to product, fintech, treasury, or payments operations.
Conditions
•Recharge properly — 30 days of paid holiday
•Change the view — a week-long exchange to London, Amsterdam, Paris, Munich, Vilnius, Berlin, Sofia, or Barcelona
•Win together, celebrate together — regular team-wide events that are actually worth showing up to
•Covered, properly — additional medical care
•Stay in the game — a sports card, fully funded, for the gym, classes, or your sport of choice
•Commute easily — a monthly travel allowance that covers getting to and from the office
•Use what you build — hands-on access to the actual product you're hiring people to help build
