About the role
Build commercial growth in the maritime sector at Damen Marine Components. As Area Manager Sales you combine commercial drive with practical technical knowledge. You identify new opportunities, advise customers on high-quality maritime solutions, and guide commercial processes from first contact to order. You get a lot of room to work independently, develop relationships and realize DMC's growth within the inland shipping (binnenvaart) market. Location: Hardinxveld-Giessendam.
What will you do?
As Area Manager Sales Binnenvaart you are responsible for the commercial result and further development of DMC's activities within inland shipping. You focus on business development, strengthening existing customer relationships and realizing new orders. Your tasks include:
•Business development: identify commercial opportunities, follow market developments and develop new business within inland shipping.
•Relationship management: build lasting relationships with existing and potential customers and maintain contacts at various levels.
•Technical-commercial advice: understand customer needs and advise on suitable solutions in the area of propulsion, steering and maneuverability.
•Sales and negotiation: guide the commercial process from request to order, draw up quotations and negotiate commercial terms.
•Management: lead a supporting team of approximately three colleagues.
•Market development: research new opportunities, map projects and customer needs, and translate these into concrete commercial actions.
•Collaboration: work closely with colleagues from Engineering, Project Management and Service to translate customer requests into high-quality, feasible solutions.
•Commercial strategy: work together with the other Sales Managers and the Director Sales & Marketing on the further development of market position, sales strategy and the product portfolio.
•Representation: represent DMC at customers, trade fairs and relevant industry events.
You are mainly traveling for customer visits within the Netherlands. In addition, you occasionally travel to customers or trade fairs elsewhere in Europe, usually for a short period of about one week. You work independently on your commercial objectives and align your activities with the internal organization, while being able to rely on support from colleagues who contribute to commercial and administrative processes.
What do you bring?
You are an enterprising and results-driven professional who spots opportunities, takes initiative and knows how to convert relationships into concrete orders. You combine commercial insight with technical understanding and can easily switch between customer needs, technical possibilities and commercial interests.
In addition, you have:
•Several years of commercial experience within the maritime sector.
•Technical knowledge of maritime systems, shipbuilding or mechanical engineering applications, preferably built up through practical experience.
•The ability to understand technical issues, ask the right questions and translate customer needs into suitable solutions.
•Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with an eye for both customer relationships and results.
•Experience developing new business and maintaining lasting customer relationships.
•An independent, proactive work attitude and the ability to turn commercial opportunities into concrete actions.
•Good communication skills in Dutch and English.
A technical education or specific diploma is not a requirement. Your technical knowledge and practical experience are more important than your formal educational background. Experience within inland shipping is a plus, but a relevant network in this market is not required. Experience coordinating the work of supporting colleagues can also be valuable.
What do we offer you?
At Damen Marine Components you get the room to use your commercial and technical expertise within an international maritime organization. You can count on:
•A versatile commercial role in which business development and market development are central.
•A lot of independence and room for own initiative.

•Collaboration with experienced colleagues and technical specialists.
•A lease car.
•25 vacation days and 13 ADV days.
•Flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home.
