applied AI engineer

In short

A senior applied AI engineer role at ActAI, a company building a proactive smart assistant for everyday tasks and workflows. The role covers the full ML feature lifecycle — from model training and fine-tuning to production deployment, debugging, and optimizing latency, cost, and reliability. It requires strong ML fundamentals, hands-on model deployment experience, production-quality coding skills, and the ability to work independently in ambiguous environments.

About: ActAI is building a proactive smart assistant for everyday users that brings intelligence to conversations, errands, organizing, and workflows with minimal prompting. Its product focuses on reliable long-running workflows, persistent context, and real-world task completion.
Responsibilities:
•Build and ship AI features end-to-end, from models and systems to user experience
•Design and iterate on prompts, tools, memory, and agent workflows
•Turn raw model outputs into structured, reliable, and predictable behaviors
•Debug issues across the model, orchestration, infrastructure, and UX stack
•Optimize latency, cost, and production reliability
•Develop lightweight evaluation frameworks to measure real-world performance
•Work with product and engineering teams to turn ambiguous problems into working systems
•Ensure production ML models meet accuracy, latency, and reliability targets
•Identify and debug production issues, and address their root causes
•Build robust, reproducible, and maintainable data pipelines, training loops, and inference systems
•Collaborate with engineering, product, and research teams to deliver reliable ML-powered features
•Drive model and system iterations through real-world signals and measurable improvements
Requirements:
•Strong foundation in machine learning and modern neural network architectures
•Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning, or deploying ML models
