Web Summit

Team Lead - Production Design

In short

Lead the production design of built spaces (lounges, partner booths, studios, broadcast sets) across Web Summit events in Lisbon, Qatar, Rio and Vancouver, taking projects from concept to build while managing a small design team. Requires a strong track record designing physical spaces for live events, expertise in Adobe Suite plus 3D/CAD tools, and experience working with builders and suppliers across countries. The role is hybrid in Dublin and demands confident presentation to senior stakeholders; Portuguese fluency alongside English is highly desirable.

About Web Summit
How did Web Summit become, in the words of Forbes, "the best tech conference on the planet"? Meaningful connections. Our tech events are unmissable because we make it easier for the right people to meet and connect. Everyone at Web Summit works towards this goal. And we're just getting started. We're always looking to build on the impact we have already made at Web Summit. In the coming years we'll take Web Summit to new markets, promoting global connectivity, highlighting important issues and connecting global leaders – all while making a positive impact on the environment and communities we encounter. To build a better company, we have to better ourselves. We do that by finding the most ambitious people to work with us.
The Web Summit Design team is responsible for the overall art direction and brand management of the company and the events portfolio. This innovative team works on anything and everything that needs a creative touch, including "identity creation" for a portfolio of brands, our events that take place around the world, identity creation and marketing collateral for a number of stages. The team also aids the product team in producing creative assets for websites, apps, ads and much more. Whether it's web, print, motion graphics or stage design, this team is tasked with generating fresh ideas that inspire and engage our attendees, partners and clients.
Responsibilities
•Production design across events. Owns the design side of built spaces across Web Summit Lisbon, Qatar, Rio and Vancouver. Lounges, partner booths, media and creator spaces, studios, press backdrops and broadcast sets.
•Concept to build. Takes a space from brief to concept to renders, drawings and material direction, then works with production, procurement and suppliers so what's built matches what was designed.
•Leading a small team. Sets priorities, allocates work, reviews output and mentors the team. Owns the quality bar for everything the team ships.
•Working with production and event teams. The design counterpart to event producers and production. Flags early when layout, budget or timing changes make earlier designs out of date.
•Presenting and defending the work. Presents designs to senior stakeholders and partners. Takes feedback and makes the call on what to change and what to hold.
•Brand and standards. Keeps built environments consistent with Web Summit brand and each event's own direction, and decides how that plays out in three dimensions.
•Workload and deadlines. Works with the Creative PM to keep a clear view of what's in flight, effort against estimate, and where the team is stretched. Raises capacity problems before they become deadline problems.
