Solution Architect payment platform

In short

Solution Architect role designing and documenting a microservices-based payment platform for banking systems, covering REST/gRPC/Kafka integration, high availability, security, and architecture documentation (C4, UML). Fully remote position with a fintech-focused company, requiring 3+ years of hands-on experience designing distributed/microservices architectures, Docker/Kubernetes, message brokers, and intermediate English. Candidates should have experience with banking or payment systems and strict reliability/data consistency requirements.

About the Project
The project is developing and integrating a modern payment platform for secure and reliable payment processing and interaction with external systems. It includes scalable microservices and asynchronous transaction processing, with a focus on resilience, security, and high availability.
Responsibilities
•Design the target microservices architecture for banking and payment solutions
•Define service boundaries and areas of responsibility for individual components
•Design microservice communication using REST, gRPC, and Kafka
•Develop integration architectures for internal and external banking systems
•Design synchronous and asynchronous interaction scenarios
•Design solutions for high availability, scalability, and high-load requirements
•Develop and maintain architecture documentation using C4 and UML
•Define API contracts and integration interfaces
•Define approaches to API security and inter-service communication security
•Design the use of Docker and Kubernetes within the solution architecture
•Define strategies for error handling, retries, and failure recovery
•Participate in the architectural analysis of existing banking systems and integrations
•Make architectural decisions and document them in technical documentation
•Advise development teams on implementing architectural solutions
•Assess technical risks and the impact of architectural changes on the existing system
Requirements
•3+ Years of hands-on experience designing microservices architectures
•Experience designing distributed system architectures with a large number of interacting services
•Experience preparing architecture documentation, including C4 models, UML diagrams, sequence diagrams, component diagrams, and other architectural diagrams
•Hands-on experience designing REST and/or gRPC APIs
•Experience designing integration solutions between internal services and external systems
•Hands-on experience with Kafka or other message brokers
•Understanding of Event-Driven Architecture and asynchronous service communication
•Experience designing highly available and high-load systems
•Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes from an architectural perspective
•Understanding of distributed systems security principles, including OAuth, TLS, authentication, authorization, and access control
•Experience designing solutions for banking, payment, or other systems with strict reliability and data consistency requirements
•Ability to analyze existing architectures, identify architectural constraints, and propose potential evolution paths
•Ability to select technologies and architectural patterns based on business requirements and technical constraints
•Experience collaborating with developers, business/system analysts, DevOps engineers, and other technical teams
•English at Intermediate level or above
